Welp, I had a fun time down in Teh Carolinas, did a lot of stuffs, but also had a plenty of free time here and there. And so I drew some stuffs. Figured I'd post them up, meh.

First thing I drew together. Turned out nice, but I just slapped on the shading (which I need to practice anyway) and turned out cutesier than I had planned upon. It started out as just the funky cybernetic eye, which I keep seeing as a close-up on some baddy for a sci-fi film. Problem is that I can't draw human-esque stuff for shite so I turned it into a robot instead. Heh...

I had originally planned to make the robot thing sinister-ish, but when the first one (I think the size of the speaker is what did it (big giant eye, giant head, tiny mouth)) turned out cutesy-ish to an extent, I decided to make up for that. Methinks I made up for it enough, though sadly it wasn't to scale quite right and to top it off I drew it much smaller than I was planning on. I need to work on drawing things large perhaps. But to compensate I'll up the scanning quality and you won't notice a difference so HAH!

This scene just sort of popped into my head in an instant as a kewl setting for a Doom map. Supposed to look much darker but the scanner brightened it too much, bah. When I realized that with some sky paradoxing and ZDoom it would be possible, I got an idea for a whole new map. Tee-hee. Of course it won't look as good as this because of the limitations regarding textures and 3D floors. But I'll make it look as good as possible. :p

I was bored, and another image popped up in my head, but due to laziness and lack of commitment I slapped it together and didn't darken anything but the river/lake (which look shite as they are anyway), plus in the long run it isn't very realistic anyways. So it really just turned out sloppy and slapped-together. Plus the scanner brightening fuzzled it up again. But oh well.

I started this at the transferring airport while waiting for my second plane to arrive earlier today (started it at about 11:30 AM EST methinks... not that anyone cares I s'pose :D). I prooty much stoled it from the Asheville airport's entrance, heh. With a bit of a Doom3-ish twist with the door and curved corners and such o'course. I got lazy and ran out of ideas for the back so I left it plain and simplistic. A few little things are slightly out-of-perspective in relationship to each other, and there are bright spots again from the scanner, but I don't consider it too big of a problem so bah humbug.

Now if only I could draw living things well. And sorry, but robots don't count. :p

I like the middle one alot that would be one nice area in an doom map, is it possible to make windows like that.
It would have an nice outside view some mars surface perhaps ;) the other drawings look good as well.

The close-up of the robot head is cool in the 1st having to do with the 2nd. I wonder how that would turn out as a sprite in doom heh.

And like Dutch Devil was saying about the 3rd one, yeah it would be neat as a doom map. You should be able to make some windows like that in gzdoom using sloped 3dfloors with a medium alpha value. - but not rounded, it would work better as a 3 piece setup /me thinks, not counting the frame around it.
But yeah very possible. sort of a half-hexagon shape.

The 4th looks like it could be a sand creature squerming about under ground. like in some sci-fi flick heh.

And the last one, yeah it does look like it could be some doom3 stuff..possible concept drawing heh

Argh, I missed all these? Ah, well I see most of them came while I getting back from Chicago. :p

Thanks for the comments. Believe it or not, the third sketch with the curved windows I actually plan on putting in a plain ZDoom map. With a little trickery it's perfectly possible, methinks. In fact I think it was the idea of those curved windows being possible without true 3D effects that came furst, and afterwards the scene started to come about in my head.

Heh, some ideas from the last sketch influenced what I made earlier today (screenshots are in the screenshots thread, you can see the similarities easily). I think both of the doomish scenes and what I worked on today will go into the same piece.

And I had to crack a smile at the idea of that lake thingamajigger being an a creature underground. Attack of the terrain blob, oh gnoes! :D

Speaking of Chicago, I wish I had had a camera (even a crappy, cheap disposable one) whilst I was there. I saw some things that would have made great photos; one in particular was when we stopped by the Sears tower the first night we were there (which was a bummer because we wanted to go at night but there was no visibility on account of the weather; got to go Sunday moring however), and upon looking straight up at it with the dark purplish sky, I couldn't have helped but thought that would have been one of the coolest photos ever. Bah, well...
