I saved CWILV00 as a .bmp with XWE. I used MSpaint to erase it and make my own name, used the same size attributes. Then I load into XWE.
But in my map the colors come out wrong or missing. The map name works good, except for the colors.
Is there a MSpaint-like editor that can save the colors right. Or do I need to do something else.

First of all, the topic has nothing to do with the post.
As for your question, the palette is wrong. Someone can help you with that.

A bit harsh. CWILV00 is the graphic used by Doom2.exe to show map names in the intermission screen.

Basically you need to make sure you are using colors in the doom pallette. Doom doesn't have a whole lot of choices when it comes to colors.

How do I get it so that my map names look exactly like the original map names, ive exported the CWILV00 and opened it up in mspaint.
But from there I have no idea how to do it, I'd like to know how to make them exactly the same.

I will try to save the colors in playpal next and just use those. That sounds like it would work. But the colors and letters I use are already copy and pasted from the Doom2.wad. I will experiment more.

I copy and pasted all the map names into one file. Then unsplice the letters and fill in a few pixels here and there. Only have a couple letters seperated right now. Didnt want to do all that work before I got the colors right.
When I have a full alphabet I might post the file so people can make thier own map .exe map names mor easily.

exl once made a program that would make the graphic for you in the doom font, but as i recall it had some bugs. I dont know if the program can still be found anywhere.

What graphic program did you use? And does the color look right in game?
Did you load the .bmp directly into the wad with XWE?

Ive used MSpaint to make this and after loading it in no problems with the colors.
In XWE entry and then load them in ive only have to adjust them a bit cause they do not appear in the center of the screen.
I can post the wad here if you want its only a few KB in size.

Did you changed the colors of the letters in MSpaint maybe thats why it got all messed up.
I didn't do anything with the colors I left it like they where, maybe you used some colors that where not the same as in the doom palette.
Maybe thats the problem I don't know what else.

Nope I only copy and pasted. I even took the MAP02 names and made it map01 name. I only converted it to .bmp and loaded right in. Colors still off. Tried saving as 24-bit bmp, 16 bit and 256 color.

If you need any map names I can make them for you and post them here, that goes for everybody who could use a few names for their maps :)

I just made them gray. Looks ok.
How did you make yours? Do you have the font or did you splice the letters?

I spliced the letters apart all there was to do was some pasting and aligning them nicely.
