Hi,

I'm on level 30 in Plutonia, only to find I can't save it. I've successfully saved it just before all the monsters (including the Rocket man) appear, but if I try to save it beyond this point, and load the game up, it comes up with a

signal_handler() : segment violation

I've read some people have had this error message before, but without a way of resolving the problem.

Any help would be much appreciated, I'd hate to have to go through all such a long process without being able to save it.

What exe are you using? vanilla, Doom95 or a port?

Legacy hates level with spawner, they are EXTREMELY glitchy in legacy. In fact, I wouldn't even play these level in Legacy, and all these segment violation are the reason why Legacy is not worth much these days.

The problem is found in the original executables as well as some source ports. It can cause a crash when the boss shooter is in a level. It saves its target spots in a list when it awakes but this list isn't saved and not re-initialized after loading a game. So the data in it will most likely be corrupt after loading a game of such a level. Almost all source ports fix this bug. If you absolutely want to play with Doom.exe (or whatever engine you're using), don't save on a level with a boss shooter! It's the only way to avoid crashes for sure.
