Does anyone know the chronology of these games? I always like to play games and thier sequels in order.
I think Hexen is the sequel to Heretic, but what about Heretic 2 and Hexen 2?
Hexen 2 seems like it is the sequel to Hexen, but Heretic is.

didn't like Heretic 2....don't like third person games.... Hexen 2 is nice, but the full version never worked on my computer.
anyway I prefer the original games.
Don't know much about chronology though

Raven Software's HeXen actually began development as an expansion for Heretic that was originally slated to hit the shelves as "Heretic II." However, the game design so expanded beyond the original game that this proposed the expansion of the Heretic universe took on a bold new identity of its own...HeXen: Beyond Heretic.

The games were released in the order of Heretic, HeXen, HeXen2 and Heretic 2.
The main story is Heretic, HeXen and finally HeXen2. Each of these games also have an expansion that essentially covers what happens after to the hero(es) of each game.
Heretic 2 then further continues the story of what happens to the hero of Heretic beyond Heretic's expansion.
