Hello Newdoomites!
After much time delayed and wasted, I am proud to announce that the new version of Hellcore is currently being worked on. All the crummy maps are being either deleted or overhauled, and all the major bugs are being fixed. Currently 12 maps have been erased, but subsequently almost 12 are completed. I am not sure if this is going to be a full 32-level megawad as now it is just me and Fusion working on it, but the final product I assure you will be well worth the wait! I will post in here with progress updates until a new site is up (old one was hacked some time ago) but in the meantime you can go to my old crummy tripod site to view some screenshots until Fusion gets around to making some higher quality ones.
Current Hellcore Progress Page (http://satnsworkshop.tripod.com/hellcore/progress.html#SKIP)
Hope to have new site and screens soon, and thanks to everyone that supported the original release! Talk to you soon.

Heh, I looked at this thread's title and wondered why Hellcore sounded so familiar. But as soon as I saw the shots from MAP01 I smacked myself upside the head. Looks fracking awesome, and a great improvement to say the least. Keep up the good work!
One thing I noticed though, out of all the links to screenshots that were on that page, only two or three were valid. The rest just 404'd.

404, ya I know. That's the marvel that is Tripod. The links are supposed to open in new windows, but sometimes it conflicts with random Tripod Banner Popups and never loads.
Needless to say, I will be working on a new website soon without the bane of Tripod's sloppy coding :)
And thx for the feedback!

YAY. Look forward to playing the new version of Hellcore.
By the way if you have any news you want posted you can PM me on here. Maybe once you get the new site up I'll do it anyways. :p That's if I notice / remember.

Greetings guys.
Didn't get much response on Dw. But we're looking for a few good people to beta test the first 4-5 maps or so. Lemmie know if you're interested in this thread.
Also, just tonight we re-uploaded the old site (which was hacked), to www.prontex.ca/~hellcore
I believe DF is working on putting up new screenshots and such, and i have DarkKnight working on revamping the entire site, moving it to php this weekend.
Cheers.

Hola, update time:
Minor here-and-there little bugs on the finished maps just got a huge overhaul. Maplist is currently now set to 20, but again that could change at any time. Fusion's started work on remapping Map06, and I am currently about 50% done my new map.
Also, the 'Progress' and 'Screenshots' page have been updated at the new Hellcore site, enjoy! Although, the news section still isn't working :/

Remember, we still need some experienced testers to pick at the levels as we go along, if interested let me or Fusion know.
ciao4now.

The project was dropped again with lack of activity in maps. Work, life, and well, a brand new $3000 computer detered from work on my behalf... I assume the same goes for Fusion. But I've been working on it again and have a quick realistic release set in mind.
It's unfortunate that one map takes so long to complete, and as of the last progress me and Fusion with the aid of Darkknight made a wack of new resources for the levels we were working on, but it's way too difficult to try and tackle everything yourself with a two-man crew and maintain steady ideas and inspiration.
I was hoping for 20 maps, even 15, but it looks like it will only be 10 full maps, 1 really tiny filler map for continuity reasons, and 1 credits map composed of finished rooms or areas that never made it in to full maps. 12 Total.
Of the full maps, all but 1 are done, the unfinished one is at about 88% completion. The filler map and the credits map still need to be done, and that's it! This will not be a re-release of the original but a new wad itself, so I will get the old version updated with a 'working' map05 so it will be fully playable itself.
Unfortunately I'm going solo on this so I'll bust my ass to get it done and released as polished and smoothly as possible. I'll update the website on one of my days off with correct screenshots and an accurate maplist. I'll repost when that's up and going.
That's it! Expect Hellcore 2.0 soon!

I need betatesters!
I don't want a rushed out the door glitch filled product like the previous release, that's why I'm looking for some testers for different ports.
I just finished Map09, did some quick touchups on Map05, and imported the rest of the gfx and sprites I'll need. All that's left is a quick transition map and the final map which is practically half built and will take no time at all :p That's 10 maps done that need testing.
I need people to test for ZDoom, GZDoom, Legacy, Edge, PrBoom, and any others I may be missing. Let me know if you can give them a runthrough so I can release this baby in all it's glory as soon as possible! I want to try to make sure it can be played in any Boom supported port to the best of my abilities.
Also there were problems with the Hellcore FTP so I couldn't update the page, this has just been fixed also and I will get the page updated shortly.

I can betatest on GZdoom. Just give me an outline of what you want me to do.

I need it tested for gameplay from Map01 straight through to Map11. Map06 is not done yet but that map will not affect gameplay when done anyway. I also need it checked for bugs of any kind. HOMs, crashes, badly offset textures, missing textures... Pretty much anything I may have missed (I've combed it over a few times now but I still occasionally find something).
And of course the bottom line, will it run completely through with that port. Any suggestions, criticisms and comments are also more than welcome. I will have a link for you to download most likely by Monday. Thanks for your help mate! It's easy to have something slip by when I'm just testing it myself.
On a side note, the Hellcore Site (http://www.prontex.ca/~hellcore/) is now bug-free and live. FTP has been fixed and the site will be updated with progress and screens when advancements are made and the finished project once done.

zdoom jdoom and gzdoom and boom and cholate doom.
He did say boom compatible ports, unless this project will work under jdoom. If jdoom is a port it can be played on i can betatest with that as well.

I think JDoom will have a field day on this wad. And I know one map won't work because of conveyer belts. Feel free to try it anyways though, who knows, maybe it's just the one map that won't work, which would be a shame anyway :p

Ah maybe can test jDoom when Boom support for it is implemented. But for now GZdoom is fine.

I'm about 75% done with the last map. I've also fixed some alignments and textures I didn't like here and there. Not too long now at all! How's the progress coming with the beta testers?

Done & done. I wish I was able to get it running in a mass of Boom ports, but wow, that's a nightmare, still can't get it. So for right now, ZDoom is the prog to be using. It's uploaded to the /ID archives, and hopefully out for you to d/l in relative time, ciao4now folks. Happy Halloween!
