Hello, I am new to the whole Legacy port, and was wondering if there were any decent utilities to edit wads, sprits, maps, and other things. I want to be able to add in new weapons, change the look of some weapons from the players perspective and change the player sprites. I'd also like to be able to add new animation to the player sprites other than just walking and shooting. I am going to use Doom Legacy as a tool for creating Machinima. Thanks, and sorry for the noob posts.

Many of the tasks that you want to do for Legacy involve the same process as Doom. Exception is EXE editing. If you want to do DeHackEd modifications, you make the patch. But you don't edit the EXE. You just add the patch file as you would a WAD. Much nicer. But if you want to make new effects in Legacy, learn C/C++ and get the source code. :)

I'm trying to find software that I can install and run on my xp machine, everything I have is from 1994, and on a floppy disk (I don't have a floppy drive on my laptop)

Well... You can get XWE for creating the textures and flats. Then DoomBuilder for level creation and finally a paint program like "The Gimp" to draw the custom textures you´re gonna use. Also, Whacked2 for the dehacked patches will work.

As for creating new weapons, I´m afraid you´re toast as Legacy will just allow you to modify the current ones in a limited way. Same for new player sprites: you can´t add actions that aren´t there to them.

I just downloaded whacked2, and am trying to install it, it keeps asking for SmartSound Quicktracks Plugin.msi, a file which I don't have

Let´s try downloading it from here first:

http://www.teamhellspawn.com/exl/index.php?page=whacked2

If it fails you could try contacting the author, Exl.

Okay, maybe you really need that file. I strongly advise you to contact Exl... It could be possible to find him on this site but surely he has a mail adress in his site you can try too. The other thing you can do is to try and get that file from the internet and then put it in Wacked´s folder... But that sounds odd.

I did some research on the file, thinking it might be spyware or other such. It's a plugin for Adobe Premier, Pinacle Studios, and a few other video editing programs. I couldn't find it to download just by searching, and it isn't available at the SmartSound website. I've contacted Exl via e-mail, but haven't been e-mailed back yet. I really want to get started on this project. I've got quite a few of my friends in on it already, and what we have so far looks awesome! I'll make sure to post the first episode here for you guys.

okay, I've got it all worked out and working, created a file, and tried it out in single player. It works for what I want it to do, but I can't figure out how to make it so I can use it in multiplayer.
