My opinion hasn't changed: while I would love to see the franchise continue, saying that "And THEN Hell attacks for the THIRD TIME!" doesn't work so well. I would like to see, however, even just a mod based on Earth when hell is attacking, that assumes RoE never happened. There was once going to be a mod described exactly as that but it was cancelled to to lack of a big enough team, sadly. But if id were to do that as an actual game I prolly wouldn't miss out on it, but like Rusty said: I doubt it.

Doom 4 does not exist nor are there immediate plans to develop such a game. The things that inspired your questions are nothing but speculations and opinions. That is all there is to write.

Is the next project a joint one with other developers, as with most recent id games?

No, this is just our core title. At work right now, we have Splash Damage on Enemy Territory and Raven working on a Wolfenstein sequel that’s just under way, and this project is going to be a brand-new title. We don’t currently have anyone working on a Doom follow-on – I’m sure there will be one at some point, but it’s not in production right now. We are hoping to diversify a bit more. We have our Wolfenstein, Doom and Quake franchises, which are all very successful, but we’re trying to make a new high-end franchise. We’ve also got the cellphone work that I’m doing, which is a new franchise also.
In case you missed it:
We don’t currently have anyone working on a Doom follow-on – I’m sure there will be one at some point, but it’s not in production right now.

I don't agree the ROE was a sequal. More of an expansion. A doom 4 would be nice, but judging on how they made doom 3, they would screw it up, just like almost every other company out there. An example of this would be halo. Halo had a lot of potential, but they had to rush halo 2 and get it out too early and screw it up. Probly the biggest example and most disapointing was the Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six series. I LOVE the first one. I still play it online all the time. Then they had to make rainbow six rouge spear. It was ok, but they started adding useless features while deleting others. The rainbow six 3 was created. Horrible. And recently, rainbow six 4. One of the worst fps's i've played in my life. The effects are nice in it, but game play lacks, horribly. Shotguns are more accurate and powerful then the rifles. i better stop my rant about rainbow six. sry, i just pisses me off XP

Shotguns are actually quite accurate.

I haven't played Rainbow six. I know I'd like them, but I just lack the effort. I believe you on the series getting worse every time, many games have done that. Luckily not Hitman. :)

I would say yes there is going to be a Doom 4, way back ID annouce that Quake 3 was the last installment and they were not going to come back and make any more Quake, than out of the blue they come out with Quake 4 which looks awesome. I would not be surprise if they make a Doom 4...

My, My I absolutely hate Resident Evil with all my heart, I sincerely hope they don't do that. I absolutely hate thinking that Doom & Resident Evil have things in common.
