hi i have been playing jdoom for two days now and its great. the graphics are so cool (love the lights!) and the sound actually works for me now. i have downloaded some mods but jdoom wont load the .wads (cant find). do mods even work with jdoom? i tried loading the mod wads from ingame and the mini start but the console says cant find wad.

is this a feature that macs dont get yet or am i doing something wrong? (i know how to install the mods)

i have a non mod question too. how come the "pinkys" dont look 3D like the one in the pic here at www.doomsdayhq.com? did i not turn something on in the settings or does it spose to look 2D still?

and what about online? does it work? that would be a dream *bow*

any ways, thanks for making jdoom it absolutely rocks *xbones*

Currently, certain features just plain don't work on the Mac version, including the enhanced resource pack which makes everything fully 3D. That feature is fully disabled. WAD-loading is not; but I wouldn't attempt it if I were you. The default scenarios work, but mods tend to make jDoom crash horribly; I've never managed to get anything to even run besides the first episode of Czecks Quest and the first level of Ghostbusters, and even then there were lots of texture glitches which made the game marginally playable at best. As far as I'm concerned, it's not worth the effort yet.

Anyway, on to the possibility of all of this getting fixed. The bad news: You, me, and skyJake himself (possibly) are the only ones who play jDoom on our Macs (as the usual logic goes, "who the hell uses a Mac for games?"). The good news: skyJake himself develops jDoom on his Mac, and he's looking out for us. ;)

There *are* other people who play jDoom on the Mac like myself for example. I'm pretty sure it's not just you two, me and skyjake.

I would fully recommend all Mac users to upgrade to 1.9.0-beta3. Allthough it is still a beta it fixes many issues present in previous Mac versions and is far more stable.

There are still issues with 3D models on MacOS though.

The latest Doomsday is 1.9.0-beta3 which is available for MacOS. The last offically announced version for MacOS was Doomsday 1.8.6-beta2. It can be downloaded from SourceForge (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=74815)

Skyjake develops on MacOS so if there are problems (as bad as you make them sound) - I'm certain he would have already fixed them.

well, the graphics were the same as regular doom, it lags badly, no cool lighting, the sound does work, cant move gun around screen, no cross hair, controls messed up, ect

*edit*

ok after messing around and restarting my comp almost every thing is okay with jdoom. the only problem left is that i cant use my mouse/cross hair!

the only problem left is that i cant use my mouse/cross hair! Can you provide your Doomsday.out and your jDoom.cfg

I take it that things are still being compiled for powerpc in the MacOSX version? I only have powerpc macs, but am looking to get an intel one in the near future, how much work would have to be done in order to compile it for the intel architecture, rather than running through Rosetta?

umm.....

is there a way to upload the files? copying and pasting these would be BIG.

stick the output of the files inside code tags in the advanced reply thing. click on the # button, and put the output in between, it should make it scrolly, so that you don't stretch the thread out. Ok, I guess that's a terrible description.

The crosshair can be configured via the menu.

I just posted my question on Mac OS X and the resource-pack over here (http://forums.newdoom.com/showthread.php?p=467715).

So, if I understand you right, it won't work with Snowberry?
Then, I guess, I will stick to MiniStart. Works fine for me, except occasional crashes, but I like the 3D-models :-)
