Hehe I got a 6 for my lack lustre Underhalls map. I was refurbishing the level but never got to finish it.

Hey, I am at work now :P... I hope that people catches the news bit at the main page as it has been up only for a day. Time to spam the forums anyway...

Well, Doom_Dude, about your wad, it was on my HD as one of those wads that I have for review but never have time to. I think that a 6 is a nice score as long as it´s taken on the terms stated on the review: it´s a remake, it´s a nice curiosity, it´s well done but it won´t change your life.

Now that I think of it (not really now but for a long time) ,maybe every scoring system in the world is a bit inconsistent as I could give a 6 to an original map that was very fun but lacked something really remarkable. I´m sure that other reviewer would give less score to this wad as it looks dated and stuff (and he would be as right as I am) and it´s not up to what he expected.. I think that reading the review itself is fundamental to understand the score and in order to understand the review (and thus the score) one needs to know the reviewer. Soon we´ll be able to get to know the members of our team, with will make any discussion easier :).

Sure we appreciate the comments :), don´t forget to spread the word until it reaches the own authors and beyond!. I´m sure that many of them don´t know that their wads are being reviewed and their opinion is also welcome here.

Well Thank you Rusty, I will be looking forward to that review. I hope you enjoy the map.

And once again: The reviews are great. I just wish they came more often.

I hope we can drop another issue with some more reviews this weekend... Will Rusty be up to the challenge and have the review ready?. Only he knows.

Well danimetal thanks for the review and I certainly had no probs about what you said about it. ;) I wouldn't give it more than a 6 either. I like the level less than when I first finished it but that's why I started to rework it. I had noticed an error with the 3d floors that I missed somehow... Plus I wasn't happy with the elongated entry area and I've since chopped it down to size. Heh now that I'm thinking about it, I want to work on it. :p

Why not do VileCore II instead? ;)

Danimetal

Because Vilecore II doesn´t have 3d floors :P.

Why not do VileCore II instead? ;) Working on something smaller is easier on the brain when getting back into editing.

Heh, yeah, I´m also back into ATC as I managed to put another picture I just made up in the site :P... By the way people I would like to know your opinion on "Hell´s Twisted Influence 2", just reviewed in this issue but I think that many people could say different things about this wad.

I think Doom_Dude has too many projects going on at once.

I guess its about time for me to start on another map. maybe OMGPump3, or maybe something completely new.

I do have too many projects but none of them is 'going' due to being busy with so many other things. I think we need longer days with less BS. ;) You should start OMG3 soon. I never did get to play OMG2 tho... /my bad.

I played your Underhalls remake, DD. Nothing really revolutionary, but pretty fun. :)

You know, back when I played this map I came with the idea of starting a Legacy project (nothing special apart from my Legacy predilection, it´s just that this map is a Legacy one) dealing with remaking the 32 levels of Doom2. I always had the doubt about remaking them as the authors would wish to, according to some storyline and adding new elements or trying to be as faithful to the originals as possible... Anyway, finding a lot of great Legacy mappers to create a large project is not easy.

Actually, Dani, I was thinking of the same thing.

Well what are you waiting for, go and play OMG2 already.

I'm thinking about starting another map soon, i'm jsut trying to come up with an idea, and decide whether i want another OMG map, or something completely new.

I just don't want to end up getting tired of making the map like last time. I had plans for OMG2 to be bigger and a few more areas and such, but i just got tired of mapping, so i just kind of ended it where I was. It really delayed the release, because the last almost month i was working on it, very little got accomplished. The Red key door was originally going to be on almost the opposite side of the map. Also, I planned for the player to teleport back to the hell area again toward the end, and for the hell area to open up into a bigger room. And a few other areas were going to be added along the way. Even though it didn't turn out like that, i can't say I am disappointed with how it actually turned out.

Back to my next map again. I always had an idea of using fragglescript to make a map that will play differently everytime. Using the random number script, You could have different rooms open up and such everytime you play the wad, so theoretically you could play the map many different times and it would seem like a different map everytime you play it. Maybe I'll start on that one soon.

I think that PumpkinSmasher´s idea about a scripted level that is different each time you play it could work nice... Usually, Doom levels have a certain replayability span and this could be different. Anyway, I also have a random map idea but it´s different. It deals with the silentteleport() functions to take the player to different rooms each time.

ARRGH...all my homework+track practice+track meets+school = no time to review OMG2.

Wednesday I hope...

Well now I just need a good idea for a level

Danimetal

I think it could go along the lines of "Go into a maze, collect keys to reach the exit and kill the monsters. +10 if you go ultra-detail for a 12 year old game" :P.

Sorry guy, this had been dead for quite some time as you can see on the date stamp on the post above yours, guess we just got too busy with life... or something....
