Good afternoon,

I know that I should have posted this in the 'Mods and Maps' section but nobody looks in there anyway. Also I wanted to posta about my site too so its not all mods and maps.

What I want to talk about is my lackage to complete any projects.
I know that I have had under the belt...
-Total Chaos
-some jail break mod
-Action DOOM Legacy port

But there was another project that was not a new mod, but infact an update to an orignal one.
After my computer crapped out I lost a lot but now I learnt that remaking things sometimes makes them better. So I grabbed the DT2004 source and had another go at updating DT2004 to a new level of detail (thats right, im working on one of the uncompleted projects).

I plan to redo each level in 1 day so the update should be ready in about a month and a half. I just want to show you what I am planning to do.
I will admit that I was a little too heavy on using the 'METAL' texture in DT2004 but I went back and redetailed all my undetailed maps I made (~X~'s and Mr.Rocket's maps were perfect but mine didn't stack up).

So you want to see proof. Heres a before and after shot of MAP01 in the DT2004.wad.

AFTER:

So, what you think. Should I go back and redetail all my undetailed maps. Or should I leave it to rust under the raining drips of my failed projects?

Also, http://wadaholic.d3-unlimited.co.uk is my new site. Join the forums and download some maps if ya like. I plan to update the layout soon :D

PS:
This gave me an idea. Why not go back and redetail all the orignal DOOM 2 maps to have legacy features like 3D floors in it?
Just an idea.

Too bad for you.

Looks way better with the details. All those 3D floors might be a slowdown on some boxes but that's probably not too big of a worry (as in you should test though). My only suggestion is that the brown stuff looks better if it's a bit darker in the rooms.

As for re-detailing DooM II, it would work better to do remakes of the levels from scratch than trying to shoehorn details into the existing maps. At least I've found that when I've played remakes vs. remixed copies of the originals. The remakes were always better.

Speaking of your "lackage to complete any projects", what's the story with Total Chaos? I'm sure DarkWolf and iori can't wait to hear of our massive progress. :D

Re-detailing Doom 2 levels would be cool. :) As long as you keep the gameplay mostly or entirely the same.

As for your screenshots, although the second one looks much better graphics-wise, there is a certain charm to the "before" picture. And since it is supposed to be for deathmatch, the "before" is easier to look at as well (good for gameplay).

Try playing Doom_Dude´s remake for map02, underhalls :).
