Well the name says it all...i am lost. I am usedto making 3d structures with EDGE and GZDOOM...but the Risen3d way is escaping me...anyone know an "easier" explination than what is in the wiki and the docs?
Mainly i am asking sitters since he is very proficient in Risen3d...i am re-starting an old doomsday project "Operation:Spectre" and have gotten everythign converted to Risen3d, made the lights..etc..etc...but i want to start making 3d structures...(the ONLY reason i went to risen3d) So sitters...or ANYONE in the know please lend me your insight...
Thanks in advance.*thumbs*

For making 3d floors in risen 3d is the same as legacy, I think. I have never done it but it might be this way. You can find that here (http://legacy.newdoom.com/der/levels/index.shtml)
That may not be the correct way, but I am just throwing an answer at you. Hope that helps.

No, it's completely different from Legacy. It's completely different from any other Doom source port, for that matter.

Yeah it is completely diffrent from ANY port in its way to make 3d structures....i just don't understand teh relationship with the way you do it. It makes no sence.
Sitters?

It makes no sense.
You got that right. Even after you figure it out, it still doesn't make any sense...
I'm still hoping for hawkwind to come into this thread and say that it's been changed for the next version of Risen, and it will now be done like how other source ports do it. I doubt that will ever happen though... :/

I wish it were as simple as EDGE, Legacy, and GZdoom..cause i am really proficiant in making maps with all 3 ports and exploiting the 3d sectors....though the way Risen does this "Supposedly" causes less lag than the typical "control sector" style 3d structuring. But hopefully someone will place some light upon this thick black shadow.

Hi dark,
When I start with Risen3D I have download the testmap, with the 3D floors, water, lifts and an lot of other features.
With the Doc and the testmap I figure it out how the stuff worked.
It is not so difficult to understand.
But I must say that I did never make 3D floors with other ports, so I don't know how they work.
Make an sector ( triangle or something ) outside the level set action one line as 3d floor tag the line to the 3d sector, set ceiling and floor textures, set ceiling and floor high for the light level.
Fill in the 3d line coordinates of the sector ( upper front and upper back ), set the textures for the sides of the floor.
don't stitch verticals together with other sectors.
But the best way is to figure it out with the testmap.:)

Edit, and put the thing in the map to enable 3d floors.

thanks sitters, that is a far better explination that the docs...i can't get the demo.wad because it is not being hosted (i keep getting dead links) but what you said is not in the editing Docs...
But i figured a control sector was required to make the 3d sectors work...thanks sitters.
Now the Upper Front and Upper back...
The upperfront is the "height" for the 3d sector right...$A00128 <----example Correct?
what in easier terms is the Upper Back for?

Hi dark,
Front Side Upper texture $A00128 : start ceiling high
Back Side Upper texture $032A000 : till or high 3d floor
So the floor is now 32 high.
The middle textures are the sides of the floor.
The directions of the lines are of-course to the front.
And remember to place the thing that enable the 3d floors ( outside the map ).

Edit: You can download Risen Egypt from my site or from the Risen3D site, he use an 3D floor.

There is an error on line 2766. Just delete the unknown texture. This has been fixed in the updated, yet unreleased as yet, version.
