Christmas comes early.
While we wait for the big and hairy bugger to visit our homes again, why not read some reviews (http://reviews.newdoom.com/reviews/ndr007.shtml), eh?
As always, be sure to comment us on the discussion thread.
IC2005 (http://reviews.newdoom.com/reviews/ndr007.shtml#IC2005) by Ian Cunnings For Boom Compatible. Single player and coop. 1 map.

IC2005 is a map that will please almost every reader out there: looks shiny, plays decent and has enough amount of wit on it to keep you entertained during and hour or so. Despite the gameplay flaws I can see on it, the ambience and the tricks that Boom pulls out guarantee this map a place in your hard disk and in your memory and, on the top of it, you won´t get tired of looking at the ultra-clean architecture. Play it and enjoy while it lasts, then come back and share what you think :).
Fort 1 (http://reviews.newdoom.com/reviews/ndr007.shtml#Fort_1) by Martin Mirejovsky alias Duke. Doom2.exe
Singleplayer. 1 map.

A rather basic wad. Experienced players may find this boring, but it didn't have any pure mistakes, so there's no absolute reason why you couldn't try this. A couple of words of caution though: It lacks detail. It doesn't have anything fancy, and almost all of the textures are unaligned. It's also very easy, so if you're looking for a challenge, this wad isn't for you.
Note: This is the first part of the 5 wad series, ranging from fort 1 to fort 5. All of the wads are going to be reviewed in future.
Carpodeathia (http://reviews.newdoom.com/reviews/ndr007.shtml#Carpodeathia) by Piotr 'Tomaha' Tomaszewski. For Doom2.exe.
Deathmatch. 1 map

Carpodeathia is a level made by Piotr 'Tomaha' Tomaszewski. The level features a very small layout and a great mix of rock and tech textures. Its quake 2 theme fits it gameplay quite well, although it would have been better if the map was larger. Gameplay suffered a massive hurting, the level is just too small to bring about a great game. Overall I believe this map would serve for a deathmatch or two but there isn't really anything too exciting about it.
Fort 2 (http://reviews.newdoom.com/reviews/ndr007.shtml#Fort_2) by Martin Mirejovsky alias Duke. Doom2.exe

As I suspected, the quality of the wad has raised dramatically with the author's second wad. There's a lot more details, recognisable places and it looks much more professional than the first wad. However, that being said, one major problem is still present in this map: All of the textures are still unaligned. Also, like the first one, this one's quite easy, so don't bother playing it if you're looking for a challenge.
Note: This is the second part of the 5 wad series, ranging from fort 1 to fort 5. All of the wads are going to be reviewed in future.
The Classic Episode part 2 - The Singularity Complex (http://reviews.newdoom.com/reviews/ndr007.shtml#The_Classic_Episode_part_2_-_The) by . For Limit Removing port. Single Player. 9 maps. [txt] (ftp://ftp.fu-berlin.de/pc/msdos/games/idgames/levels/doom/Ports/a-c/class_e2.txt)

A Doom wad with part of the ambience, architecture and gameplay that makes the first original episode a warm memory. Overall, I´d say that the whole pack of levels, even with a few irritating flaws when beginning, is really fun in terms of battling, navigating and finding out secrets. If you dig the Classic Doom mood, get your favourite port running, activate the monsters and secrets counters and get downloading this.
