I'm aiming to make DOOM I (not Ultimate), and DOOM II look and play like DOOM 64. I've downloaded the DOOM 64 Resource Pack (which is even nicer than I thought it'd be), and got the PSX music WAD. I'm just going to leave the original textures in there, because after all, DOOM 64's textures are pixellated as well.

Now all I need is menu screens that look like DOOM 64: Absolution's screens. You know, a big symbol, a 3D DOOM title, lots of names in the credits, and the storyline in the help screen. And if possible, could you get me DOOM 64's fontpack as well?

Once I get these things, my DOOM trilogy might finally be complete!

Not that you idiot! I already have that! I just want to make the other DOOMs look and play like that!

I have that too, and it is great hehehehe

I've heard about a Doom64 TC for ZDoom-based ports (and other ports as well?). I think all the stuff (maps, weapons, sounds, monsters, music, etc.) is in separate WADs, but all packaged together, like in an archived-file. Where can I find-out about that? ??? Does anybody know anything about this?

Not that you idiot! I already have that! I just want to make the other DOOMs look and play like that!i don't like being called an idiot, especially when its for trying to offer help to a poster who hasn't convied enough information in their message for me to understand wtf they are trying to say.

basically all you have to do is replace Doom/2 graphics/sprites with their Doom64 counterparts. its not hard or anything, just use wintex or XWE.

and...why do you want to do this, exactly? i mean whats the point?

First of all, sorry for calling you an idiot.

Second, I'm burning copies of the games for my classmates. I want them to see all three games as almost visually the same.

Third, maybe if I could get the D64:A WAD to play in JDOOM, after removing the maps and replacing some screens....

This is weird!

If you want to play DOOM just play DOOM.
If you want to play DOOM II just play DOOM II.
If you want to play D64 just play D64.
If you want to try an addon try an addon!

Why mess around when the games already exist for you to play?

Once you have them all installed and configed, you can launch them with a couple clicks of a mouse!

If what you're trying to do is make new maps for D64 just make new maps for D64 or try the ones "Maverick" made.

IMO DOOM should look and play like DOOM and DOOM II should look and play like DOOM II. Why try and make them look and play like D64?

Because it's darker, scarier, and less of a joke. That's why.

I think he wants to make, basically, "PWADs" with Doom64 as their base rather than Doom or Doom II (correct me if I'm wrong SpiDoL). There's certainly nothing wrong with that, and if it works I think that would be kinda kewl.

Now why debate the whys and wherefores any longer? Can someone here just simply help the guy. Unfortunately I, myself, do not have any specifically helpful information.

Hmm, I can't wait to download the D64 maps you make then...if ever.

Start smokin' wit that XWE!

I'm not so sure what you will end up with will be legal to begin with.

gee wiz, all the reasons I could never get into D64.

here yuh go dude. this guy made this for vanilla doom, should be easier to pick apart then other resource wads( maybe not, who knows?)
may be in good taste to ask him persmission before fucking around with it.

i am still in awe nobody has flamed you over this statement.

Oh come on, it's not like id software cares if their 10 year old game is being spread.

Then again they may. In either case, that would be wholly up to id.

Yea, SpiDol, just make the Doom64 stuff. Don't go givin' Doom IWADs away. Why don't ya just give PWADs to your friends that already have the IWADs for fuck sake!

And as far as who cares and why (about him makin' Doom64 "PWADs"): Well perhaps "care" is too strong of a word here. As for the why, because Doom64 IS pretty kewl and if he can make something, I'd like to play it if it's any good. That's just me.

Similar to this has been done before, such as WolfenDoom, a Doom II TC with its OWN add-ons.

I think it's a simple matter of respect. Id has to draw the line somewhere. If id would allow people to spread Doom then people might one day say: hey you know, quake II is also an old game so we can spread that too. In 5 years they perhaps will do the same with Doom3.

I don't respect companies that sell 12 year old games. Look what Rockstar did, and I don't see Rockstar bankrupting any time soon.

hmmm...this would be considered illegal. id Software still sells they game, so tell your friends they can buy it. Giving the games away for free in any format is illegal. Please shut up before you are banned.

JetRock, thanks for that WAD. That will make things a bit easier.

As for copying, no one really wants a copy of DOOM when I ask them. They're into other games, like Halo and Final Fantasy.

I think it's a simple matter of respect. Id has to draw the line somewhere.
I would like to also add that it's a matter of honor. I don't think that id is being unreasonable at all to charge like $10US for the first four Doom games.

Quite a few people like old games. Other companies typically abandon their old products almost completely if not completely (hence the term abandonware). Then they sic the IDSA or the RIAA (or whatever those greedy degenerate self-interested yuppie pencil-necks are called) on the consumer for not paying-up on stuff that's not even for sale.

id has a better way for both the consumer and themselves, making great "old" games much more readily available and easily accessible. They are supporting those quite a few who like the old games, who in turn are supporting them by throwing them a few bucks. It's not like they're asking for Fort Knox out of ya for that.

Shit, man! To get the first four Doom games, all I simply had to do was jump on a subway from whereever I was to a store in Lower-Manhattan caled J&R Music World (which has the most excellent selection of games I've ever seen in a store, btw) and plunk down about $12.00 cash for the Doom Collector's Edition. It took less then 10 minutes in the store and now I have like 10-kazillion (i.e., virtually unlimited) hours of fine gaming enjoyment. Yep, just that easy. So excuse me if I don't feel ripped by id Software.

Funny how they manage to make games that are among the kewlest ever, but also create great brain-smashing technologies that change damn-near everything. Umm, how many games by how many different companies were powered by Quake III? ???

Yea, FATAL, how is this not to be respected? ??? I really genuinely hate to say it...but...*owned*. Sry, FATAL. I know that smarted hehehehehehehahahahahaha
