Well it's taken me a while to get round to this but I saw Nile on Friday the 25th of November in Sydney and it was a fantastic concert and evening.
First the band did a signing at a metal record shop in the city centre and I managed to finish work and get changed and ready for it. The signing started when it was supposed to end but they did it anyway which was great of them. I got them to sign my travel journal which was most cool as I don't have any CDs with me by them. And yeah I did get star struck which I blame all on the fact that I had been up since 5am to get to work and hadn't eatten since lunch time, but by the time I met Karl I made a mess of speaking to him.
So I met plenty of other Aussie fans there and went to the venue with some of them I met at the signing. The support bands were The Amenta and The Furor both from Australia and quite good bands to see.
Nile were amazing, I was at the front for the whole set and came out unhurt which was surprising. Really good with the crowd too, Dallas one of the guitarists had the whole crowd doing death metal growls twice during their set which was fun, and the crowd was just great. Shook Karl's hand again when he came to the front at the end of the show to greet the fans there.
Afterwards there was an afterparty so I met some guys I had lost in the mosh pit again, from Canberra and we hung out, drinks and partying. Eventually we called it a night at 4am! *spin*
So all in all it was a great concert and night out. The metal fans in Australia are great and really I wish they got more bands here as they miss out on a lot. But Behemoth are playing here in January, I have a ticket of course and will in due time let you know about that and post photos from Nile, I can't find a place to scan them in yet. :(
