Hi!.
Here we are with another issue of NewDoom Wad Reviews!. This time, you see, there aren´t many reviews out but consider the big size of some of them and also that there were only three wads on our list!...
This week we have new features, like the wad lists and stuff and also, for the first time, you will see how a same wad can be reviewed twice here and how a single person can review a total of 17 maps in a single week!. To sum up, we´re sure you´ll enjoy this issue and we´ll be waiting for your feedback and discussions in the appropriate thread.
As always, we´re open to submissions and we´re still recruiting reviewers so if you feel like it, just contact us!.
Have a nice week!.

In case you just want to go through the whole reviews go here (http://reviews.newdoom.com). Otherwise you have summaries for each review below. You can read the reviews you´re interested in by clicking on the Name of the wad.
Stairs to Hell (http://reviews.newdoom.com/reviews/ndr001.shtml#Stairs_to_Hell) by Vasek "Damned" Havranek. For Zdoom. Single Player. 1 map.

Stairs to Hell is a wad that features good and bad points but, for bad, it has many inconvenients and problems to it regarding gameplay, design and challenge so it´s not very fun to play. If I had to define this wad in a few words I would talk about isolated areas, each with a challenge in wich you have to lineally progress until you get all keys. The idea is broken by a bad planning and unfair battling. Still, it has a nice ambience to it even with average visuals so you may want to try it.

Description: A near linear shooting gallery map, with some nice retro textures making up for a few oddly placed ones. Good map for beginners. Basic "Radio transmissions have ceased, go investigate" scenario. One play through is probably going to be your limit to this one, folks, unless you need the practice anyways.
BloodRust (http://reviews.newdoom.com/reviews/ndr001.shtml#BloodRust) by Simon "SlayeR" Judd. For Limit Removing Port. Single Player. 11 maps.

You just got back from a short leave of abscence, flying a small shuttle in towards your pre-determined landing site. No response from several hails to the control tower to open the landing bay doors, besides a few moans and what sound like growls, leaves you with only one option.........to beam in and investigate.
Dissolution (http://reviews.newdoom.com/reviews/ndr001.shtml#Dissolution) by Bryant & Kevin Robertson. For ZDoom. Single Player + Co-Op. 7 maps

A side story to Project Slipgate, another creation by this author. Nice, Dark ambiance in many of the levels & a neo-noir style intro gives you that creeped out feeling that will cause you to keep playing even when you want to stop out of shock. Nice usage of cutom textures/sounds by various veteran doomers and teams will also make sure you can hear every vile sound as you blast your way out of this hellhole. And lastly, I hope you enjoy the dark, as these maps are best played in pitch black(And you will enjoy them again and again, mark my words).....to give it that dark side of Hexen look, but even more so, with a little Quake style goodness thrown in. This is a MUST PLAY, people, but be forewarned......even the easiest difficulty ain't a walk in the park, so tread lightly and stay alive.
The Call of Ktulu (http://reviews.newdoom.com/reviews/ndr001.shtml#The_Call_of_Ktulu) by Rudy Jurjako. For Boom & Vodoo Doll compatible.. Single Player and Cooperative. 1 map.

A 1998 wad worth remembering: taking place in a green marble and rust metal castle. It matches with amazing skill a compelling gameplay, pleasant look and interesting twists and turns through all its length that happens to be quite nice for a few games too. If you want to see what Boom could offer and also what simple architectural ideas can deliver to the eye you could check this and have also a very nice time when playing through it.
