I had not intended to release DeiMWolf as a beta, but I realized that it would take an outrageously long time to get the sprites repainted to the way I wanted them to be, so I decided to release it now, instead of waiting until version 1.0 was ready.

DeiMWolf is a mod for Legacy based on Wolfenstein 3D.
There have been numerous W3D mods for DooM and the ports, but DeiMWolf is different. The levels are completely faithful to the original game, and the game play is as close to the original as I could get it, but, unlike other W3D mods, everything else is intended to be new.
In this version, the goal of all new graphics has not quite been realized, because none of the enemy sprites have been replaced yet. For the moment, rescaled versions of the original W3D sprites are being used as temporary place keepers. Several other graphical elements of the game have not been completed either, but it is fully playable, and game play is quite close to the original game.
You can download the current beta at http://www.doomlegends.com/deimwolf/index.html
Enjoy.

Played it a bit:
-Looks real nice, honest. I think you made a great work with things like the wall nests where the eagles are as well as with the 3d objects that really shine and are a nice work in Legacy. In the same fashion, sliding walls look neat too.
-The treasure system, the keys, the monsters and weapons behave similar to those on Wolf3d. I can´t tell you how much similar since it has been ages that I don´t play the game... Overall, it´s a refreshing experience!!. Ironically I recall the original game being easier than it has been this time through.
-I didn´t notice your DeiM metrics trick, again, honest. I suppose that you must notice it a lot but I haven´t take the time to take a close look at things and compare to check the apparent "resolution increase". What I did notice is that when walking the view seems to do something like scrolling in and out. It´s really hard to explain, but it was like the view was "Zoom distorted". It wasn´t unpleasang though, looked really nice but sometimes you´d have the sensation of taking half a step backwards when running forward.
-Seems like a lot of work has been done... How would you define the "moddable possibilities" of your work?.
Finally, I really like the pickup items. I assume you did them with some kind of "Heretic" things hack wich I´d like to read more about. Anyway, when Legacy v2.0 is out it´s supposed to have custom pickups (they´re already in the beta) and the possibility to openly use things from Heretic or Hexen (as far as I know) so you could have to remake some things there.
Anyway, nice mod.

There are two things you can do if you want to see the change. The first is simply to turn it off, by switching your view height back to the Legacy default. This can be done by typing "viewheight 41" into the console. When you do it, the entire level will suddenly look gigantic. The second way to see the difference is to go into god mode, and turn the chase cam on. Then you can see how the DooM marine looks like a midget compared to the Wolfenstein guys.
<<EDIT: I did the chasecam thing myself and took a screen shot.

LOL!!!. Pretty nice and clever trick Boingo. Now that´s why the player seems to grow up when he starts the level ;).
