i got doom 3 and i tried to install it on my computer then it said i have to install DirectX 9.0, so i did, then right before the end of the installation of directx, a message appeared and said "Program did not pass Windows Logo Testing, this program will not be installed."And in the licensing it said Microsoft and windows xp so i know there is something wrong with my computer, so i tried to play doom3 with out directx 9.0 and it looked very crappy with black lines running across the people, I remember installing Return to wolfenstein and installing DirectX9.0 for that then uninstalled wolfenstein when fininshed with it, taking DirectX with it, so i know my computer is capable of installing it but it changed over something and is being a self-aware asshole and won't let me install it to play doom3, please tell me how to bypass this or turn down this security, i have Windows Xp and Dell Dimension

When you meet that message (I'll explain later why it happens), you should have option to continue installation (completely safe) or stop it. It shouldn't just stop the installation, unless you have some dummy protections on.

Now for the error message. This occurs, because the program's installation code doesn't have "microsoft's lines", which mark that it's an "official driver". Now, to get microsoft approve the code, you'll have to pay them many hundreds of euros. If you decide to update your own code, it'll cost the same price as the first time. Really. Microsoft is an total asshole when it comes to things like this.

Uninstall the game.
Update your video drivers. [what kind of video card is it?] - get them from the manufacture site. depending on the model of your Dell box, it may or may not have a video card that can run doom3 properly. whats your dell model number? and have you put a new video card in it?
Update your directx. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx
Install the game.
when it asks about directx you wont need to install it because you just did.
good luck.

you should have option to continue installation (completely safe) or stop it. It shouldn't just stop the installation, unless you have some dummy protections on. I did continue the first time and the graphics in Doom 3 looked HORRIBLE! As i said earlier, my computer changed over something because i did install Castle Wolfenstein which requires DirectX9.0 and it let me install it back then and it looked fine, so i reinstalled Wolfenstein again and computer didn't let me install DirectX 9.0, unlike last time, I tried downloading the Xp-version of DirectX9.0 and the computer said the same thing, no windows logo, so it must be some kind of fixable problem
