i have a question about level one of doom 1

um do you know where you are in the room where there is a brown monster at the top of the pylon thingy? well if you turn around you will see a silverish little pole and if you look up you will see a shade of the wall that kinda looks like a door/secret. i was wondering if that means anything or if it is justa wierd patch of wall.

The wall is a secret door, yes. And that "brown thing" is an imp.

No really. When me and my friend were just lil' kiddos, we tried many days to find out the mystery. When my friend finally found it, we were like "COOL! We can see through from this side but no one can see us from the outside."

Needless to say that we didn't know that monsters don't care a bit about some view blocking texture. :)

Oh... I must have misread, I thought he was talking about the door to the right at the end of the bridge that leads to the acid pool outdoors. *bug*

That one actually I never had to figure out, because the first DooM game I got was DooM II, and when I eventually got Doom I, it was the PSX version. And in that, it's just a transparent wall. They made that too easy. :/

so um fatal how bout tellin us how to get to it because it is just soo friggin hard, i still dont get how to get up there and my friend keeps on telling me that when you get there you see a video where youre on a spaceship and you go to a secret level (wow he is a terrible liar).

after you've been in the room right before the exit, that "pylon" thing comes down. in the room behind it is a shotgun. now, turn around and head back to where you began, then run back to the pylong thing. as you enter the large room with the poison, you'll see a lift in the secret room lower, which, if you hurry and get on it before it goes up, takes you to the secret you see earlier.

The shadow on the other side of the slime pool is the line which triggers the lift.
