trouble with Archivile

I am having some trouble with some archiviles and i dont know how to dodge them. I know there is a trick somewhere but it is always killing me.If any of you have some tips on how to defeat an archivile with a decent amout of health left please post.thx.

shoot them in the head with big guns...alwyas worked for me...take strongest weapon and continuly strafe...never stand still and pound away at the head/chest...

i would say take them out right away with the soul cube. they always seem to spawn a monsters no matter what you do, but if you get them with the cube at least they will only bring one.

I liked using rocket launcher against them. Three rockets and they were dead.

If you're using Legacy or ZDoom, shoot them in the face while dramatically jumping out of the window. Always works for me.

As has been mentioned, keeping a fully charged Soulcube will do away with one handily. Otherwise, I usually feed them plasma from medium range so I can sidestep their fire blasts. This usually works out OK. If things start getting out of hand I break out the BFG.

Plasma and the machine gun worked right for me on an awful 10 fps... It depends on your location too; I remember it took two tries to kill one that appeared below me when I was on an upper level. Still, shoot with big guns and if it doesn´t work and you´re tired of trying just use a cheat code.

Shoot dodge, shoot dodge, hopefully have something to hide behind. I wouldn't use a cheat code blah!.
Just save your game alot, mainly after you do some damage to the creature without receiving any damage yourself.

yeah, cheat codes are for wimps.

and strafing worked for me. i am gonna try and kill it with a shotgun only and see how many shots it takes to take it down! (Doom 3 Archie).
