I´ve done a small Legacy DM wad with little scripting and little 3d floors, but seems to be a nice play. It has been uploaded to the idgames archive but in case you want to check it out here´s a temporary link to it (185 kb) :

http://www.geocities.com/danimarlboro/doommaps/Undrangl.zip

More stuff about it (like screenshots and so) to come at a future decent update to
http://www.freewebs.com/danimarlboro/index.htm .

I hope you like it. Feel free to post any comments.

Thanks.

Ive saw your wad and it looks really great.

Except that my computer doesn't have a good framerate with this wad :(

You can try software mode. Maybe it will work better.

I knew you were going to ask... I´ve got only 3 of them. You can look at them at my site, in the "Doom stuff" section. The pictures are at the bottom of this page:

More to come as I get feedback on it :P.

From the Doomworld reviews:

First off, of everything in /newstuff, do NOT download the following WADs. They are either 1994ish WADs or suck so much ass that they choke on it:
dmcity
dmcos
fataldm
guts
spidered
spillway
Undrangl (I play Legacy maps FOR NO MAN)

XD!. What can I say?. I guess I´ll link that to my page though since a review is a review :). In a personal level, it´s a shame that Legacy has that bad reputation.

Edit: Link set.

Well, you got a nice review from Kaiser from this weeks /newstuff.

This is a nice small dm map with excellent connectivity. There are many hallways all connected to one large arena with various heights and pillars for cover. Weapon placement is pretty evenly spread as well as ammo. I am not much of a DM fan so there's nothing more to say about this. But its I recomend this for dm'ers.

Not a bad review at all, I think you will like this one better. And I thot it played well with Legacy bots, I'm not much of a DM'er though.

Thanks for the feedback guys :).

To speak the truth, I wasn´t mad or dissapointed at the other review or reviewer. Maybe it was impossible for him to run the map, but the comment on Capital letters didn´t suggest so... It was just a question of "Well, it´s Legacy, I should expect it not to get reviewed" like happened with "High Tech Alien Hell". It´s just a shame that good wads (I´m not saying mine is) may be skipped just because of the port used.

Of course, I´m linking to the new review as I have some time :). Thanks a lot again and now, get out of my thread :P.

PS: To speak the truth again, this really makes me want to carry on with my project :).

Please do continue, i love playing legacy wads, almost as much as i used to enjoy making them, maybe soon i'll get back into it, as i have been mapping as of late. And maybe c++ will get me motivated even more.

Let´s hope C++ will get you back into it. I bet it will be somewhat difficult to get used to the new Hexen/Doom mode and ACS, but nothing some work can´t fix :).

Played this in deathmatch with one other person. I ended up losing with -3 frags... I feal in the deadly water a few times... I probably didn't do too well because it didn't run well on my computer, especially in the open area around the super shotgun, and at the bottom in the shallow water. This would probably be a good deathmatch level if it ran a little smoother, although it's just a little big for only two people.

Maybe it´s an issue with the computer´s speed???. I´ve noticed some maps running faster in software rendering mode than in OpenGl, you could try that. Also, Legacy tends to lag a lot when you play as a client when compared to the host... I don´t know, what computer do you own?. It just runs smooth in mine´s.

As for the size, I assume it´s a little big for two people and think that it would work much better with four of five persons since the frequency of encounters increases a lot.

Other than that, thanks for your feedback and comments :).

Yeah, my computer is old. It can't handle OpenGL even in simple levels. I just thought I'd mention it since it seems no one else here DMed with it.

Maybe it´s with the computer... Mine´s a one year old laptop so I can expect Legacy to run fast. To be honest, I haven´t tested it in other computers and have only played on it once (against Xio, he beat me of course!). I didn´t asked him if it was smooth ´cos I assumed so. I´m sorry you couldn´t enjoy the map due to the excess of things on it; sometimes I just get carried away and put more and more stuff in.
