I have found a store wherre I can buy Ultimate Doom for PC. However, I own a Mac. I have found a program that will let me run Doom on my Mac, if I can access the WAD files. What I want to know is will the WAD files be somewhere on the CD where I could get to them with my Mac, or do I have to run a program to install Doom and get to the WAD files, which of course I couldn't do.

I've just checked the files on the Mac disk in the id Anthology, and the iwads (game data files) appear to be identical to those for the PC version (same file-sizes and CRCs).

Therefore it should be OK for you to buy the PC version of the game(s) and use the iwads from that together with whichever port it is you intend to use on your Mac.

Thanks. Do wads created for Doom2 work with the original Doom iwad? If not, are there plenty of good wads for the original doom? Any you'd reccomend?

No, to play pwads for Doom2, you need to have the Doom2 iwad. You should be able to get hold of a copy of Doom Collector's Edition easily enough (how easily no doubt depends on where you live) - this contains all four of the commercial iwads.

If you're stuck with just having Ultimate Doom, then there are plenty of good pwads for that, though nothing like as many as there are for Doom2. I'd suggest 2002ado, pe4_dt2, fbdemo, crusades, 01fava, class_ep, retroeps, pe1_phob, heroes, infinity, eternity, serenity, return01, trinity2, galaxia.

Sorry that I haven't given links, but these are the file-names, and if you search for them here (http://ftp.sunet.se/pub/pc/games/idgames/) or here (http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/?search), you should find them readily enough.
