This is a work in progress of a tab of the doom 2 map01 guitar solo, its about 1/3 of the way through so far, I have made it so you dont have to move your hand about the fretboard much:

Running From Evil (Guitar Solo)

You can just copy and paste this into a text file or something, and start playing! if you know vaguely how to play guitar that is....
I will finish it soon so stay tuned!
Here (http://harrydude.freeownhost.com/runningfromevil.zip)(save target/link as) is what this tune will sound like when played properly (.mp3 inside zip)

So, uh... can you explain how to read this thing? I'm a guitar newb.

Okay the horizontal lines represent the guitar strings so you have the thickest lowest string at the bottom and then the rest of the strings going up to the thinnest string. The E string at the bottom of each section is the thick string and the top E is your thinnest string and all in between.
Next the numbers represent what fret number you should fret at. So taking the first bar you fret the note at the 7th fret on the top E string, then at fret 8 on the B string, play an open string on the top E (Don't fret the note.) then 8th fret on the B string, then the 7th fret on the top E and then 8th fret on the top E. For this just looking at the tab I'd probably play it all in sweeps so deamonic, if you are a beginner then I'd maybe not recommend this.
I hope this makes some sense, it's rather hard for me to explain without sitting down and showing somebody how you read tabs and then play from them.

deamonic, the tuning that the solo is in is the usual standard E tuning, basically how most guitar tuners you buy will tune your guitar to. Basically it goes the same way, the lowest line in each section is the thickest string, this one needs to be tuned to E, then the next one to A, the next to D, the next to G, then the next one to B and the thinnest one to E. Hope that helps. :)

Yeah stuff like this isn't for beginners(like me) but I hope to be able to play it fast some day...

the guitar i got came with a CD that had a tune-by-sound tuner, but our new speakers suck(the old good ones broke :( ) so its impossible(well, close to it) to distinguish the notes, and it is badly untuned.
ive found out that if i practice a song enough i can play it fairly quickly.

Keep this up Harry.

Try this tuner, daemonic.

But learn as soon as possible the tones (if you can) or to tune with natural harmonics, it´s fast and accurate.

Hey, speaking of Doom music, I was listening to X103 here in Indiana, and I heard a song that was very reminiscent to the Doom 2 level "Barrels o' Fun". I was like holy shit! I've tried looking at the playlist from X103's site, but the song comes on rarely. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Ya Alice in Chain stole one of the riffs in that song.

NIce job harry, this is way cool. Although I cant use it because I play cello and not guitar, and I can't really read music too well.... But if I listened to it I could play it. I can already play a handful of tunes from doom, not to brag or anything

Sweet, I'll try this soon. I can play E3M1 already and that's pretty easy. I might make a tab for that later.

Yeah, I've been meaning to finish this tab, but it takes alot of time, because Wim Den Herder's one is a bit messed up (you have to jump around eveywhere on the fretboard!) and I just wanted to make it with easy sweep picking. I should learn this as well anyway...but then theres the issue of remembering it all, lol.

That's the main riff. For the higher part, I think you just move the whole thing to the A-D strings instead of the E-A strings.

I don't play guitar, but I know plenty of music theory. All of it, actually, if that makes any sense. If any of you read chord symbols, most of Bobby Prince's music is pretty simple. None of the Doom tracks would take more than a few minutes to figure out.

If any of you can lay down Doom 1 E1M1 with a distortion pedal, and not too much of that grungy noise crap, I will kiss you with tongue. It's actually quite simple, theoretically -- just 12-bar blues, e-natural minor with a Metallica-style 4+, i-iv-i-v-iv-i, and some wicked-fast e-minor arpeggio flourishes in-between.
