Are there any areas in Doom III that resemble any of the places in Doom? I thought I remembered Id saying that there would be some little easter eggs like that?

hm, nothing comes to mind. i'm pretty sure i would have noticed, too. the only easter egg in Doom 3 i ever found was the id pda.

The pickup sound of certain keycards is the same as in Doom1 and 2, the Id PDA and besides those 2 I don't know any (the sound isn't really an easteregg though).

Super Turbo Turkey Puncher 3. It's an arcade game you find in the first level.

In certain areas (not sure where) there are magazines with the old DooM guy's face on it.

I know a design reference! I don't know why I didn't think of it before, but in the original DooM, when you first encountered the Baron of Hell you had to fight two. Well, in the end of the Delta Labs when you first encounter the Hellknight, you had to face two.

That could be a reference to DooM I.

I think I missed that one. The version of that game I ran into was later in the game and it was broken.

I never found that either... and they completely got rid of it in the Xbox version. The only one you can play is in co-op, and you still don't get the email that you're supposed to get when you get to 25,000 because it's "first to 3,000 points wins." :(

When you reach the caves, on the hyroglyphs where the guy does the explanation of the first invasion and the soulcube you find a picture of the titlepic of the Ultimate Doom.

yep and thus the ancient hero was the doom guy. :p

Theres also some easter eggs in the orange pentagrams. The doom guys face and the dopefish appears in the design. Also one of the mags has one of the Quake III chicks on the cover.

I knew it was there, I just was never able to find it. And on top of that, they took it out of the Xbox version. *cry*

Cool. So DooM 3 does take place a (long) time after Classic DooM. Kinda explains why the monsters seem "upgraded" versions of the old DooM monsters, as if Hell learned from its errors. Things like Revenants always using heat-seeking missiles, smarter Zombie soldiers, etc.

Nah, that's not true. :p

You got the wrong expression. They're just easter eggs among others.

I seriously doubt they would make a huge thing like that out of a little easter egg... If that is true there would be more refrence to it in the game...

Actually, I found it in single player today while testing the differences in difficulty between Recruit, Marine and Veteran.

Use the "map select" to get to Mars City North, then make your way to the kitchen. There's a Turkey Puncher arcade machine there that appears to be broken, but you can activate it by pressing a button on the back.

I remember seeing a room which was an exact likeness of a room from Quake 2 in one of the screenshots before the game's release. Weather or not it was in the final game I can't say, as I haven't played it that much, but it's a picture with a wierd bald scientist guy in it. When I got the time I might put up a picture to show you.

You can play the super turbo turkey puncher 3 before the invasion. In the first "warmup" level. Before you go to the dungeon place.
