I still have not had the pleasure of playing Doom III yet. I know, it sucks, but I'll get over it.

I remember, they were saying back at E3 last year, that the gameplay changes quite a bit once you get to Hell (as opposed to the Mars Base). Can anyone enlighten me as to how that is? What does Hell look like? Any screenshots and stuff that I've seen are all at the Mars base...

Well, It´s really a spoiler to ask that... Why not moving the thread where we can answer without spoling fun??.

I didn't think of that.

Well, can our lovely little resident d00m_d00d or the fabulous GoldEyes move this for me? I'm really curious as to what "Hell" is like this time around.

I was hoping more for some screenies. That can also describe Hell in Doom 1 and 2 ;P

We could try to find them... Installing it again and playing through must be painful!!.

as far as gameplay changes go, in Hell you have infinite stamina. also the Imps and Hellknights have different skins, for some reason. they are very dark with glowing red cracks in their skin, and lighter areas outline pentagrams on their foreheads

Hell in Doom 3 looks as good as I've ever seen Hell look in a video game...and it's been featured in quite a number of games at this point, hasn't it? Hell also sounds great, full of moans and screams and whispers and weeping. Hell is very protean in nature, with walls that abruptly open up and floors that break up into individual floating blocks hanging over nothing. Hell is linear in design, but Doom 3 isn't about exploration, it's about combat. Hell is a bit too short; you'll wish you were there longer. Still, Hell is a fun place to take some time to look around.

Nifty. Thank you, guys. I was just curious as to what Hell looked like ingame. It's good to hear that they actually did a good job with it. One of the things I disliked about old school Doom, was that the levels set in Hell weren't that exciting... Of course, there wasn't that much they could do back then :-/

Here's one of the Hell shots I took when I played Doom 3.

Hell in Doom3 resembles a bit of roman and greek architecture only with a twist of evil to it. It makes you feel like sometimes you run around an ancient city, or parts of it, and then suddenly you are in a cave or open plain with flying bricks.
Hell sure is awesome in Doom3, I would've liked to spend some more time there killing demons*rolleyes*

My favourite part about the old games was stepping into hell itself. The walls made of skin and meat, lava, skulls and satanic images everywhere, I thought it was awesome, especially on the Playstation with the burning sky. I'm gonna love this, those screens look fantastic.

Wow.

Is there a few hell levels? I read a review of the RoE expansion and I was disappointed to hear that that one only contained one hell level.

Oh, and someone mentioned that some monsters have a different skin in hell:

The first time I encountered a Hellknight in Hell I had nothing more powerful than a shotgun, so I kinda freaked out. That is, until I discovered that I could easily drop it with 6-8 shells.
