*wave* New here, I've never played any version of Doom before, am having problems with the new one. Is there anyone that knows anything about drivers and card downloads or errors?

The game installed fine but it won't start... I've installed nVidia GeForce 6800 from sparkle.com, but it still doesn't work. A blue message box comes up saying:

(sorry about the length, but in case someone knows what it could mean..?)

Go to http://www.nvidia.com and download the latest drivers from them. Uninstall the drivers you have loaded, and load the NVIDIA driver. I rarely use the drivers from a graphics card maker. It is best just to go strait to NVIDIA for yor drivers.

Same problem. :(

Damn it. Think, if it's possible, that it's my computer that isn't compatible with playing Doom.

Windows XP? Packard Bell... it doesn't say anything about that on the box.

I'm not sure what to say, I question the 64meg 6800 card. I didn't think they made a 6800 with less than 128meg

Really? I downloaded one with more meg's than that, but still not working... meh. Thanks for your suggestions.

Maybe this is fate's way of saying my exams in a month's time is more important than spending hours a day playing Doom *smirk*

Well the 64mb on the video is pretty low for running Doom 3. You also can't download more mb's.... so I'm not sure what you meant by that.

Maybe he meant the driver package was bigger than that. I'd be a bit surprised. The newest Catalyst one from ATI is only 30MB, and I don't remember the nVidia one being that big.

You need to disable your onboard graphics. (I can tell by the output file you haven't, as your computer is still trying to use it)
