View Full Version : Another problem with Risen3D

When I start up Risen3D, it takes a very long time to initialize the models. Whereas JDOOM takes only 10 seconds, Risen3D takes 10 minutes to start up!

Is there any way to make it so Risen3D dosen't take so long to load?
Combined with the answer with my PSX Music thread, I'll finally be good to go.

By comparison to jdoom, yes, the models do take time to load.

10 mins !!!!!!! What machine are you running ? I just now did a test - All models loaded, Hi-res textures and patches and sound to max ---- loaded dooom2 in 35 seconds !!!!!

The reason being that Risen3D is based off the Doomsday 1.7.8 code and back then the models did take some time to load.

Caused by the difference in PK vs the directory loading in the old system.

Can probably be optimized in the old system - I'm going to do that for R3Dedit once I get some more editing features in R3Dedit.
