Who here ever uses the cheat codes?

Yeah same here. I sometimes use iddqd, idclip, idclev and iddt when Im testing my level.

Yeah and if you put it in twice it shows you all things in the level and if any monsters have woken up and are roaming around.

I use cheats all the time. When testing and when I want to look at a level but can't be bothered playing it.

I use iddqd now because I like to screw around with enemies and see what kind of interesting situations I can put them in.

I'll spend hours on a level like the suburbs in doom 2 with iddqd running to see how many monsters I can make kill each other without ever firing a weapon.

Same here, only when I'm testing. It's no fun in the real game to use cheats. It robs the game of it's purpose: To suprise you :)

I use them when testing out new packs or graphical effects that I've added to a source port such as JDoom, as I don't want monsters getting in the way. In the days when I used to map (long time ago now) I'd generally add the monsters last of all, after all the mapping work had been completed.

Using the cheats within an actual game is akin to cheating yourself, you are allowing the thing to beat you.

I only use cheats if it's an unbearably tough-to-beat level, even on the easiest difficulty level. (i.e. Alien Darkness, etc.) And even then I only use them if I've died numerous times.

Otherwise, no.

I like to use cheats to create certain set piece battles. One favorite of mine in the old days was to boot up Doom 2, IDCLEV my way to Wolfenstein, fire off all my ammo into the wall, then IDCHOPPER myself into chainsaw heaven. From there on it's Leatherface vs. the Waffen SS!

I use cheats when I play a new wad on ultra violence, thinking that it shouldn't be that hard, while in actuality I can't get past one spot at the start of the level. So, I just iddqd and then when I get there keep shooting whatever was killing me untill I run out of ammo, then I turn it off and keep going, untill such time as I keep dyeing in the same place over and over again a second time. :p

I use cheats all the time. I just like to see how long I can stand there before I start to get pissed because they wont stop unloading on me. It hasnt happened once :) Cheats are fun tto use. Use idclip and snek up behind some guy and unload on him with the fucking double barrel baby
