Alright, how do I add custom music to a wad?
Also does it have to be an .avi, .mp3, .mid, etc...

Ah, music eh? Simple, get an Midi that fits your tastes (they are everywhere) Use Xwe to add it(or wintex). If you use doom2 level 1 you must rename that midi file to "D_RUNIN" (And to each level rename the file to whatever that files original music file name was) If yo udo it right that song will play instead of the normal Doom music.

Careful there, you meant to say "D_RUNNIN".
Also, you must convert any midi's to mus with MID2MUS (google it) before inserting them into a vanilla Doom or Doom II wad. I'm not sure if XWE automatically converts them though but if Doom.exe, Doom2.exe, or Doom95 crawls on their hands and knees, then you've feed them a wad with a midi.

Of course, if your wad requires a limitless port, you have nothing to worry about as nearly every source port supports midi. :)

DooM II (1.9) and Ultimate DooM support MIDI. Id managed to sneak that one in without anyone noticing I believe. The current version of Legacy has broken MIDI support for some reason.

If you can avoid converting to MUS you'll likely have better results with the file IIRC.

Some ports have MP3/OGG support. It's not common though.

I remember hearing something about that Doom and Doom II playing midi's was possible, but I dismissed that as being a rumor. Are you sure about this, because from past experience, I've first noticed in Doom95, that if a midi was used, it would run at a crawl. Then, I *thought* I tested the same wad in Doom2.exe and remember seeing the same results. It could all be in my head though...

And what did you mean by "you'll likely have better results with the file"? The .mid file structure is nearly identical to .mus, and sound almost identical too.

Um,... I downloaded Midi2mus from like 7 different web pages; and when I double click to open it, nothing happens. A dos screen pops up for like 1/1000th of a second and disapears... Whats up?

You need to drag the mid file over the exe. Then it creates a mus file.

Ahh, my gratitude is unmeasurable... Who would have guessed? Thanks! :)

Hahaha! That happened to me also! I was thinking WTF? This program must be crap, but it does work just that way. Now the mus2midi .exe doesn't work that way.
