The question's simple really, have you played with some (famous?) person you'd like to tell us?
Yesterday, I loaded up doom connector for the first time, and join the first game I see. Looky looky, I found dd_133. I remember hearing his name around here somewhere and I remember that he was some kind of a good mapper. Needless to say, I beat him really well. :)
Also on doom 3's mod Last man standing I've played with Calimer, the leader of the mod. This happened the day the mod was released. This was also the first time I properly joined some game in Doom 3.
So I've met a lot of famous people, have you?

I've never played DooM online. Maybe I should. :p

Rofl, if DD_133 knew someone thought he was famous, he'd get a laugh out of that.
He's not very hard to beat atm either, as he's on dialup, but I can safely say if he had a broadband connection, he would be one of the better players out there.
Anyways, I've had the priviledge to play against some very great people. Vampy, an excellent moo2d and judas23_ player; Toke, an oldschool veteran with some excellent mapping skills; and Tellz, probably one of the godliest players I have ever run across (he beat me 50 to 7 on map01). Unless you play a lot of ZDaemon, you probably don't know any of these guys.
Then, I'm a member of a well-known clan called Unidoom. There's so many godly players in this clan, (Ralphis, AceofSpades, HumanBones, to name a few) that I can't believe I'm actually a part of it. Not that I'm that bad of a player or anything. ;)

EarthQuake: Can't forget deathz0r. He's a good player also.
Well.. I've played many people.. No one "famous" though...I can't see how DD_133 is famous, I thought you meant like Romero or Carmack or someone. :P

Heh, the reason I posted about him was just because many times when I used to ask a lot about doom mapping, the name "dd_133" was usually somewhere in the answers. People told me to ask him about stuff and such. Looks like he's not famous at all I guess.

I've known DD for almost two years, and I don't recall him ever being a mapper, heh.

No, I shouldn't forget him, but because he's in Australia, he tends to do worse in US and Euro servers. Yeah, put him in his own server and expect an asswhooping. :)

Heh, this talk about DooM multiplayer is getting me interested :p
Though I'd probably end up having my arse kicked really bad. I'm only used to playing against the standard dumb monster AI (even though I cleared AV and HR on UV).

Really, it's not that hard, just keep on running (and jumping if possible) and shooting no matter what happens.

Heh, all this talk about multiplayer is getting me interested. What source port seems to attract the most people in multiplayer (or what are you guys using)? Sorry not trying ot turn this into a different thread..just a quick answer'll be fine.
And god..i hope it has mouse support its been ages since i've played it normally.
