View Full Version : Need Zdoom players to test map.

I would greatly appriciate it if any people who use or have Zdoom test my newest map (Which is really the same one I've been working on since infinity =/ ) Just post here or Pm me to see it(add E-mail), any comments/suggestion/bug reports please give! It's "Castle of lost dreams" and I'm hoping its near ready to be released. (I know of a few minor HOM errors)

Thanks! oh and please send me wads for the website!!

To be brief...

Highs:

Good gameplay,it didn't bore me, which is surprising considering the shear number of wads I've played
Good interconnectivity, pieces to the puzzle come together later in the game, map01 actually made me go "so thats how you get over there..."


Lows:

Jagged edges, I'm not really thrilled when I see convex sectors with really small angles
Monotonous texture usage, you used the same textures (and flats!) over and over and over
Poor sense of material, by this I mean that if you had a step or pedestal, the flat did not complement the textures used on the side. This is a bit hard to explain, so tell me if you need clarification.


Sorry for there being more lows than highs, but I'm a tough critic. It's a good start, but IMO, I think they're far from final quality.
EDIT: By the way... what makes this a ZDoom map?

Thanks Earthquake, that helps a lot, oh and I've said it is for Zdoom because in the past people who have tested this on other source ports have reported problems and confusing errors, so I think its best left as a Zdoom map though I'm sure a few other source ports may work as well. Also please do clerify on point number three, It is slightly confusing.

Notice how the right side looks so much better as opposed to the left.

Alright,

BAD
-A couple HOM's
-Some door tracks were moving up with the door
-One of the rooms had two Bull Demons stuck together (1st level)
-Again, a lot of the same textures

GOOD
-Nice pace
-New music, not the same old Doom music
-Some good thought went into this level
