Avatar question

Due to my low post count, i can only choose an avatar from the "standard" selection. Is there any way at all that i could use an off-site avatar? (it is ok to link to it rather than putting it up on your servers).

If so, the avatar I would like to use is:

No, you can only have a custom avatar when you reach the correct post count + you have been registered long enough.

You can have a custom avatar after you hit 150 posts and have been registered for 30 days. Please do not spam to get to 150 posts....spam posts will be deleted.

Seems kinda silly if you ask me (not the thirty day thing, but the additional 50 posts). Not like offsite images burdens the server much.

EDIT: well, in that case may i make a request for an addition to the standard avatars? How about the quake1 zombie... maybe during the "rip peice of head off to throw" animation?

It's the rules. The posts were the rules even before the 30 days were added. They won't change and we can't make any exceptions. I have no say so over the standard avatars, but I doubt they will change anything.

I've got a question:

I don't have enough posts yet, but when I do, I found an avatar I'd like to use.
What is the size limit to avatars? The avatar I want to use is 120x120 pixels.

anything beyond that you'll just have to wait until you get that many posts and find out for yourself, rather than just asking and hoping to get an easy answer. your posts count is a long way away from 150, so its not like you have to worry about it this instant.

If I really cared about bumping my postcount I would visit Newdoom more often than once a month. Triple posting in a thread about not postwhoring to get 150 posts is clearly a silly joke, that it seems went above some heads.

Really depends on the person. I don't care if someone has 1 or 99999 posts. If the post seems sane, I'll post in the same manner. If I see someone posting something like:
"culd ne1 giv linkz 2 sum uber hax that I kno u guyz have. I'm new 2 the hole cheeting skene. LoL!

Come now, it's not that long. It only took me two and a half months to reach it. Some can post that much in even a couple weeks. A friend of mine made 31 posts in a different forum in one day.

If the limit was low, someone could easily come here, post some shit, upload an avatar and then never come back again. That would only waste server space. Keeping the limit high also discourages spamming to get a custom title/avatar.

Yeah you have to prove that you are serious on forums, then you get rewarded. Seems logical to me.
However, if the limit was lower, you could avoid many spam posts by the people who want to stay on the forum and want a custom avatar.
A better way to solve the never come back problem is to delete inactive accounts.

And that attitude, my friend, will get you far. People shouldn't care too much. I mean, it's okay if they want to show they care by making 5,938 posts in one year as long as it's not spam, and as long as they don't brag about it, and as long as it's not an extremely rude, unnecessary, insulting, or ignorant, etc comment.
