For the sake of posterity, I am working on an upgraded version of the aliens TC created by Justin Fisher for doom legacy(yeah i wanna put in the 3d floors/coloring). I have already thrown in a 7th gun ( the flamethrower), put in some music, put in a new sky, and threw in some of my doom forever guns ( handgun, and 2 shotguns(( i only replaced the guns that the aliens tc didn't)) that come from the side of the screen. I have re-extracted the wads from the original aliens TC, rebuilt the nodes, and dumped the levels into doom2.
WHAT I NEED:
if you have any spare time, i need people to help fine tune the ancient dehacked code. maybe even re-do a few things to make it better. if you are a fraggle person, thats kewl. throw it in. at this point all i can do is fix up and detail the levels, and provide/edit graphics. I was wondering if anyone wants to help. its a fun little project.
take note: i am a fast graphics editor, anything you need i can pop out in an hour.
if you wanna sample of what i have so far, respond and i will send you a zip(if i trust yuh).
aside from the actions of the flamethrower, you pretty much have creative control over the subject matter.
justin fisher will be contacted before the final release to make sure all is kosher.
i am sleepy, sorry if this post is kinda ranty or something.

It might pay to ask him before hand, otherwise you might have to throw months worth of work out the window...

nah. for serious, this is just something I am doing for my own fun. also in the readme it pretty much says "add on to me". anyways, a good portion of the community keeps on taking my sprites without giving me credit, so, upgrading the aliens TC ( and by that I mean pretty much throwing in a buncha extras, building the nodes, and cleaning the shite outta the convoluted wad itself) is something that I think is more beneficial than just letting it lose its original attraction with age.

He encourages distribution of the TC, and invites people to make add-on levels (i.e. additional maps that work with it). I don't see anything granting people permission to modify it though.

Hack editing is one of my specialties.

When people do this to me, I have a tendancy to raise hell about it and make them remove the wad from the face of the earth-
Also, maybe you should base this off of the Source port optimised version that Quasar made of Aliens TC.

its more a cleanup than a modification.

I don't think Fisher can even be found anymore, can he?
Anyhow, if it was my project, I wouldn't care if someone modified it. Infact I'd be honored that someone thought my work was good enough to deserve more attention...

Hiya.
I was just watching "Hitch", and in the Google product-placement scene, I wondered what someone would be able to pull up on me in Google. "Not much that's useful" I suspected, since my website was deleted by yahoo last year. So I had a look, and found this thread - a discussion partly about, funnily enough, how it's hard to find contact info for me online :-)
So I thought I could save you the trouble. I'm Justin, and you'll not find opposition to the project from me, though I don't have the time to help out. If you can, email me when you're done - I wouldn't mind having an updated version myself :-)

Cool, a living legend on the forums. :D
I don't know why it wasn't mentioned in here before but Jive made a modified version of the Aliens TC that he tweaked so it works in Legacy. Things like sprite alignment and Dehacked for the most part I think. I think he put it up on his website (Doom Legacy Wads).

yeah. i did see jive's map. thought about emailing him to possibly integrate it-or just use my own fixed map. was going to have added new (non gameplay changing) features.
but this has been scrapped due to fear of being crucified.
this is an old topic.
edit: oh neat. justin replied. maybe i will tinker with it later.

Jetflock: People might not be so inclined to steal your sprites if you refrained from showing any of them before release.

if they wanna try and steal them by cutting and pasting screenies, then they can go ahead. they will look like shit. anyways, i'm prolly dumping the alien tc thing. and the initial versions of the sprites are available anyways (in a less advanced form) with the release of df.
thanks for looking out though.

can someone close this thread?

Why? There is absolutely no reason for this thread to be closed.. in fact, this thread had been lying dormant for 9 days already, until you resurrected it.
