View Full Version : Old Green-haired Zombies?

Okay, I finally got around to downloading and installing jDRP, and I was just wondering...

Is there any way to activate the older green-haired zombie models or the old Imp fireball models?

Don't get me wrong, the new models are exquisite! I just think some of the old ones fit better.

Also, I kind of miss the heavy smoke trails option.

I believe that cheb's pack has the old green haired zombies, you can find it on doomsdayhq.com :)

It does have them. The problem is that the old pack doesn't seem to work properly in the new Doomsday versrions. For instance, the Lost Souls have no models, and the particle effects don't look very good, among other things. Basically, I was wondering if there's a way to switch some of the models currently in the jDRP with the old ones.

I think you'd have to fix it yourself, I'm not aware of any pack that has cheb's former human models and everything else in the jDRP.

Personally, I would like to see Chebs alternate models - especially the pistol wielding zombie "brought back to life " :)

If you are talking about the original Sergeant and Fireball Sprites, you can just disable those in Kickstart seperatly.

For models, wat for jDRP 1.2 *kewl*

Isn't the hair color really suposed to be blondish? Really, why would a reanimated marine's corpse have green hair? If I were to make skins for the zombie guys I would give them grimy, blonde hair.

They were all grosified by beings from hell, it just dead-ified them, or ...
Something :p

It doesn't matter what color people think it would be though, the original zombie's hair is green, so the 3D models pack, at least for the original replacment should be geen.

I'd rather have the hair be blond yet dirty and messy looking, sure it could look a little greenish becuase of that but not look like it was dyed green. I think the reason why the hair on the sprite is green was to give it a grimy and dead look that couldn't be done perfectly back then because of the resolution and pallette limitations. I mean it should look blonde here, icky crap there giving the whole scalp an icky somewhat greenish look when it blends in with the yellow hair.

Pesonally I think the Resource Pack and Texture Pack should have a happy medium between looking like the original, having more detail and looking realistic.

I do wonder why it's green, in the original game, the doomguy walks into the hangar shortly after having heard the people die, they wouldn't have rotted enough to have green hair by then, but that's what they did, so eeh *bug*

green haired zombies look kewl, the Risen3d monster pack has them, plus just like the sprites there mouths are animated , so when you shoot them they open there mouths to shout there pain, and death howls...

Yeah maybe it will be more animated in jDRP 1.1 ...
And MAYBE it will be green hair... :)

Yeah maybe it will be more animated in jDRP 1.1 ...
And MAYBE it will be green hair... I beleive you mean JDRP 1.2 *winky* so, it might be a while before we see our green haired friends again. Unless Dani changes the skin for the current zombie model

Oh... yes I forgot... The faces are finished for jDRP 1.1 ... it's the bodies that need some serious work...

yeah especially, the old-old models, created by cheb, eww, some of those monsters really need extreme makeovers.

I'm assuming no one likes my grimy-blond hair idea... :(

Think about it, try to imagine it. Dirty blonde hair wouldn't be quite blonde. Could kinda look like the hair on the sprites if done right me thinks.

Ok try making a test skin we could look at and then we'll say yes or no..

I like the model of the green hair zombie because it's more like the original. So I just took the old green hair zombie head textures and replaced the new one with them. All you have to do is extract the old texture out of the pk3 and insert them into the new pk3 overwriting the textures. You might need to convert the old textures because i think they where tga's and the new ones were png's or pcx's.
