Hey Guys

Im Sorry To Say That Im Gunna Have To Be Leavin This Project.

Its Just Not Going To Work Out. Its Been Over 2 Years And Not Much Has Happened In That Time. This Means The Project Is Dead, Unless Someone Wants To Take Over
If No One Takes Over. Then All Finished Work Will Be Released Anyways
I Think DD Should Take Over, Hes Certinly Been More Of A Leader Then Me *spin*
I Didnt Do Anything For This Project, It Shouldnt Be A Big Loss *crazy*

I don't think this project is dead. Heavily delayed, yes, but not dead. There are still people working (I hope) and anyway, releasing it now in its unfinished state would be a waste.

I think DD will be happy (or not, depending on his workload) to take over.

Sorry to hear you leave. And yet again I fell terribly guilty...

MUST... START... MAPPING...

I'm still mapping, and also, the project is only dead once mappers start pulling their maps, which I hope wont happen.

It's not dead. We had a great revival lately with the release date we couldn't hit. Being into software developement I can say for sure that release dates are generally guidelines. DD, Rellik, Mystic, Kaiser, Boingo, ToxicFLUFF, the Legacy team, etc. are all good examples of people with projects showing similar and often far nastier delays. :)

We're almost done this one! Now I"m going to talk to DD about this because he just appeared on ICQ. :D

Hey Sparky, if your tired of it all then don't worry about it. I'll take over as the lead lead if you want.
I really wouldn't say the project is dead. We have loads done and it'll get done when it gets done.
Anyways I is gonna see this thing get done or I'll eat iori's boots.

Aliotroph?
January 2nd, 2005, 06:30 PM
LOL@DD I don't think iori's boots would be a pleasant meal.

I think we're almost done this. If we need an extra map or two I could see if doomdiz wants one. He seems pretty good at ZDoom mapping at any rate.

I gotta suss out the mapping dealie again. No wonder Sparky quit. ;)
That's why id prefer to finish this NDCP jobby than eat iori's swamp shoes. :p

By the way, Sparky I honestly had a feeling you might want to drop out of being the project lead. Dunno what it was exactly but anyhow if you no longer want to do it then I don't mind taking over. I want this project to get done as much as I want to finish my own projects. So much time has gone into this and so many mappers have done so much in 2 years. We'll get it done, you'll see and you'll be in the credits when the time comes. ;)

It Isnt Dead, Its Just Going VERY Slow
Im Just To Busy With Stuff To Take Responsibility Of Leader For This "Almost" Dead Project Atm
Im Sure DD Will Whip You All Into Shape ;) Hes Been Pretty Much The One Taking Care Of Things The Whole Time.

Alright, someone teach GoldEyes how to map. ;)

I may as well start tinkering with another map now. By the time any current ones get done we may still have a hole that needs it. :p

does D2H know how to map, or Phoebus?

I say that our best bet is to take some DooM 1 or 2 map and claim it as our own.

Whatever happened to FACE.uk? He was a pretty competent mapper from the one or two of his that I played.

*goes to teach Winona how to map*

Maybe this will work.

No D2H doesn't know how to map, and he honestly doesn't have the time to put into it, even if he did know how to map. (that came off sounding bitchy, but it's not meant that way) He's really busy with work, barely having room to breathe. He's been studying for 2-3 more certifications and he barely has time to spend with me...so :p

Give it a try yourself. It's not that hard. Someone released a "Doombuilder in minutes" manual. It's only about 170 pages long.

LOL@FATAL

Time to ask John Romero to submit one. :p

HA. I have no interest in mapping anyway. I don't even play Doom. ;)

Shame on you Goldeyes, you are Blasphemin by saying that!!

*goes to whipe a tear from Satan's eye*

Now look what you did, you made Satan cry:(

Anyways, I feel an urge for myself to hurry up cause I am heavily delaying as well!!

I decided to show you the only manual we have for doombuilder. Here it is: http://drsleep.newdoom.com/data/doombuilderguide.pdf

Luckily I started mapping when the only tutorial was the Doom Dude's unfinished one, consisting of something about 8 pages. If I would've seen that 146 paged monster as a quick guide to get started with doom mapping, I would've ran away.

Face.UK was making 2 levels for the NDCP but he had to quit.

I never read any manuals. All I know about mapping is what I learned from taking ap... I mean... "examining" other people's work *guilty*

Bah, when I started mapping the only manual was the one that came with DEU and it had errors, was incomplete, and gave no help if it fucked up. Took me a month to get a door working. :D

Likewise, Deu 5.11 IIRC, came with Ultimate Doom.

Hey Alio, remember this (http://www.teamhellspawn.com/iori/temp/tutor.doc)? ;)

That brings back memories... who's gone again?

Aliotroph?
January 6th, 2005, 01:03 AM
GAH! I just checked those docs and sure enough it fails to mention that DEU always goofs sidedef references and you have to swap them depending on the order you build your lines and sectors in. Took me a bloody month to get up the courage to try that menu option ("use only if you know what you're doing..."). Bastards.

Hehehe, just noticed it says you can have more than 4 DM starts. So the game does know how to properly choose a random one from a big pile. :)

I could do one but i'm currently looking for mappers for a partly done legacy mega wad.

Well Sparky is gone and Torn is toast. Agent Spork I just PM'd on doomworld because he has been there more than here... or so it seems.

MR_ROCKET
January 11th, 2005, 12:46 PM
Yeah Sporks a pretty good mapper. i really think he cheats and uses a fork sometimes though :D

Doom_Dude
January 12th, 2005, 10:30 AM
Can't get an answer out of Agent Fork.... I mean Spork.

Hey Mr_Rocket drop your legacy project and come to the ummm vanilla side. You can have Sporks map slot. :P

Nice saucer by the way. ;)

No, we just need Erik Alm. :D

No, we just need Erik Alm. :D Is he still doing Scythe II? I haven't heard anything about that in ages.

Lutrov71
January 13th, 2005, 02:46 PM
He's gone away for a while. He is up to level 27 on Scythe 2. I also made a graphic for Scythe 2. I'll be in the txt file, yay! :D

ReX
January 14th, 2005, 02:37 PM
Sparky, it's a shame that you have to leave, considering it was your idea to have a NDCP in the first place. I hope that your leaving doesn't result in the project being abandoned (although DD is a competent motivator and organizer, so things should get right back on track).

Doom_Dude
January 15th, 2005, 06:53 PM
It won't be abandoned and I'll make the final maps myself if I have to but thats all being taken care of.

I guess Sparky got tired of it all and he's probably got enough stuff to do to keep him busy.
