View Full Version : Multiplayer Support?

So here I am almost done my map and I don't know how many multiplayer starts to put in. Vanilla DooM II has only four possible players and thus four co-op starts, but some ports can do more. Are we supposed to support 8 or 16 just in case?
As for DM starts, the spawns are random so you could have a bunch anyway. I'm thinking that to support a lot of players you would of course need a lot. Was anything ever decided with regard to this stuff?

My map isn't all that suitable for DM as it is now. It does have the starts for 4 player co-op.

hmm, i never ever thought about DM or coop
i guess its optinonal if you want. i never mentioned it cus this was going to be a SP only wad
but its all over the place now :)

Just add coop starts and DM starts.

DM starts would be futile, as my maps rely on singleplayer progression to 'unlock' areas, etc. Suffice it to say, the would not work with DM at all)

It doesn't matter if you can't deathmatch on the map, it will be easier if everybody just adds 4 deathmatch and coop starts. It will be more of a megawad.

Why add DM starts to a map if you can't play DM on it *confused*

So in the txt file, you can just say 'Player starts are there.' If you say some maps have deathmatch starts, nobody will know what to deathmatch on.

its a little late for that now, it would have been nice
but i dont think theres enough time for dm/coop support
i mean its hard enough with just single player

I have the starts in my WAD's for Coop and DM, but I've never tested it for either, and I think Coop may run into a couple problems, and DM may run even worse.

I wouldn't worry about DM starts but id add the Coop jobbys for sure.
