Don't know how many of you will care but I must admit although I'm not a big fan of Pantera or his new band but this is pretty awful. Seems like a horrible year for musical people dying.

Omg, i saw this on the news about half an hour ago :(. I love Pantera, and it's a shame he's dead. I hope the guy who did it is well punished *angry*

Yeah well as I said in the one that got closed, although I wasn't the greatest fan of Pantera I was starting to get more into Dimebag's playing, my guitar teacher taught me some Pantera once before. It was to learn artificial harmonics so I kept playing this same riff over and over again to learn them that was out of one of their songs! I think it was Cemetary Gates the riff was from.
But yeah the band message board I go to one of the forums is just about chock full of threads related to it, I went to it this morning and the first page is dedicated in memory to him.
The sad thing is you get these idiots who are saying "Oh get over it!" you know. Well sure fine but the base line is this. A human being died and he happened to be a particularly famous man with a talent that made lots of people happy with the music he made. He got killed by some crazy guy when they should've been opening their gig and having a great night of playing to fans. The last thing you expect at a concert is for somebody to do something like that to the band and the crowd.

Last night on the radio they were doing a tribute Dimebag. His death has really badly affected the Rock/Heavy Metal community.

I saw it early in the morning when it first came on the news. I was shocked. My thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family affected by this senseless act. :(
SIRIUS 27 Hard Attack has been doing a tribute to Dimebag Darrel over the weekend, playing songs from Pantera and Damageplan. I've been listening to it ever since his death.

Yeah I told my guitar teacher, he knew when the news began to go about that Dimebag was dead.
On a somewhat related tangent it was a bit shocking when I read that Tarja from Nighwish had been attacked by some dude when she was on stage with her band in South America. Apparantly this guy got on stage and knocked her down, bit her and tore part of her shirt! *what* Since that happened the guys in the band keep a much closer eye on her and I'm not surprised, that sounds pretty scary even though he had no weapon.
I know searches at concerts are a pain but I've no problem with them. What pisses me off is that sometimes the venues are more interested in if you've got a camera than a weapon. Sure a big concert at one of the bigger venues it may be impractical but still if you are within distance of the band, what's to stop you sneaking in a gun and capping them from the front row if nobody searches?
Weeird thing is I not once saw anything of Dimebag's death on TV which I find rather odd as he was well known over here. I guess the news don't think the death of a metal guitarist worthy news to tell people considering the circumstances.

Here, in Seville (Spain) several bands held a tribute to Darrell. It was quite emotive.
