im drawing sectors inside a sector for lighting purposes. when i load up the game there is a slight HOM effect on the ground and ceiling at where the linedefs are for the sectors. can some1 plz explain what causes this?

are you sure both sectors have the same floor/ceiling heigths? if they are of different hiegths and dont' have any below/above textures it will cause a HOM. did you possibly draw the sector incorrectly, perhaps? if they are of the same heigth but you still get the HOM try deleting the sector and drawing it again. be sure not to overlap any lindefs while you draw your sectors.
if remaking the sector still dosn't help you'll have to either show me a picture or send my your wad and i would get to the bottom of it.

Depends what angle the 2 lines meet at. Screen or WAD please. We need more to work with than this.

ok, nm. i made the opposite linedefs of the sectors symmetrical and it fixed the problem.

i have it fixed but im still wondering what causes the HOM effect to shoot from some vertices or highlight some linedefs on the ground when youre just free drawing sectors and not keeping any like defs symmetrical, parallel, or in any recognizable pattern.

Are you playing in OpenGL-mode? Then it could be an error in the nodes. Some source ports don't like your map if you draw sectors smaller than 8x8

using default node builder from doom builder, and playing with openGL on doomsday.

Hmm... That shouldn't be the problem then, since doomsday builds it's own nodes (stored in .gwa files)

ok, i found that deleting the .gwa and letting doomsday build a new one fixed it. thanks for the help.
