Thanks, here's the process involved.

Going from left to right.

1) The original stock image of the face.
2) Added the resized clock image to the eye.
3) Re-added the eye's hilights
4) Added rust texture and masked out areas I didn't want it to effect.
5) Applied toning and colour correction to produce the final result.

Yes used The Gimp, the link is http://www.gimp.org/ versions available for Windows, Mac & Linux

Think half the battle is choosing good source images, http://www.deviantart.com/ has a good stock photo selection which you can freely use in your own work.
