I know someone told me a solution to this, but I forget what topic it was under.
Anyhow, how do I align textures on 3D floors?
Unpegging is not always an option.

You make special textures.

That's the one i think:

Edit:
I used the exact same way when i created that tank thingy. But i also needed to change the y alignments, so..
Basically, what i did was that i made a new texture mask:

And then i made the texture i needed.
http://www.teamhellspawn.com/lpg/temp/baase.bmp
Now, to get the y alignments done as i needed, i basically cut the texture and 'lifted' some parts upwards so that there would be no cyan on the top (since the textures will always be drawn from the top of the 3d floor and can not be aligned). If you look at the first picture then you see that the middle section is as high as i needed it to be. Next to that, there is a bit of cyan so i had to lift it up (4 pixels). And now i repeated the same thing until i got a somewhat messed up image:

But the final result looks just as i wanted it to be:

yeah pretty much , make a texture something like the step texture , say 8x128 depending on the thickness of your floor.
yeah that tank is really cool heh
i'd be neat if there was a trigger activated for scrolling floors and walls when you jump on the tank.
or maybe as soon as you get on the tank the surrounding floor starts moving with a straight forward cam view ,so you couldnt see the non movable target sectors.
giving the impression of the tank moving. maybe even have a few custom organic sprites that jog by while sitting on the scrolling floor. and ofcorse some tank soundfx, one of the tank in idle and one moving.

Aghh, so you can not adjust upwards. Suck.
So basically I have to create more textures for the special occasion. Like in Wintex for example, create a patch, then when I goto merge it into a texture, move it up or down how ever many steps I need it to be in order to align it!??!
Ohhh K, but that sounds like a lot of uneccesarry work. Wish there was an easier way.
DOOM Builder has me pampered. :)

X alignment works with 3D floors, but Y alignment doesn't work, so you have to create a version of the texture you want to use with the top of the texture lining up with the top of your 3D floor.

I have already thought of this before and came up with several ways to make the tank seem to be moving. And using a camera to hide non-movable sectors, as you suggested, won't be necessary since the player can actually go inside the tank and look out from some small 16x8 front windows.

Sweet. That has some interesting potential.
