I rather tell what I'm listening now at the neverending "Now playing" post, I don't have a personal favorite, I could go on naming bands and musicians for ages.

And Bomberman, goto any gigs you can when possible. You're not a real fan until you've seen them live. It's funny, you see pics of them on albums and stuff but at the gig you then see them there, right there in front of you. For me it was about 10 feet.:D
Ic an recommend Marilyn Manson for you Bomberman. He is actually quite good. I was talking about how my dad hates all my music with my mum yesterday, she said MM's probably a really nice person off-stage.:p

If you have Dish Network and you're a metalhead like me, there's SIRIUS 27 Hard Attack. (http://www.sirius.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Sirius/CachedPage&c=ChannelAsset&cid=994446661795) There's nothing but metal on this station. :D

That I can indeed back up. It was like that when I woke up next morning thinking that it was all a nice dream when really I had been there! Sounds a bit odd like Ninja said, but when you see them in magazines and on the album sleeves and then see them live it's a whole new thing. I wouldn't go so far to say that only the real fans see their favs bands live, that's not true since it isn't always easy to see the bands you want to see, certainly organising our trip to Glasgow wasn't exactly easy and for me anyway it was a bit worrying as I didn't want it all to fall to pieces and end in disaster. But at the end of it all the money and hassle of travelling was much more than worth it.
I think if anything I like the band more now than I did before.
Um for getting into new bands I also recommend buying magazines that deal with the music you want to find more about. Some have free CDs with lots of tracks by all kinds of bands so I often just have a listen to it and see what catches my ear, buy a CD that has that track on it if I think it will be good and often I do not too bad that way.

Goldy, if you're in ohio, and they're going to be in Maryland, then you must be one hell of a Flickerstick fan if you're going. BTW what kind of music is flickerstick?
O yea did I say Primus? My new sig rocks, if I do say so myself...
BTW any michiginians in this forum? anyone know if any bands are playing here in the near future?

Heh jls. Yes, i am on hell of a Flickerstick fan. We are going to MD this Saturday, (6 hour drive!) then seeing them here in Columbus next Friday (the 15th) then traveling to Indiana that Saturday, the 16th. Heh! It helps that they are indie and not very well known. They like to hang out with people after the concerts and goto bars and stuff, so that adds to the wonderful experience! Plus this Saturday like 30 people from the Flickerstick Message Board are going to be there and it's the night before the lead singers birthday and the band is off the next day, so it's going to be one hell of a party!
They are alternative rock, I guess? None of their songs are really radio friendy top 40, but if I had to put them in a catagory, I'd put them in alternative. You could probably find a song or two on WinMX or something simliar. I also run a "Flickerstick Radio Station" at shoutcast.com You can goto www.shoutcast.com and type in Flickerstick and listen to my station. :D (I jsut checked WinMX and only a few songs ar listed and they are from their first album, which is GOOD, but their newest album (and EP) sound NOTHING like their first album, so I'd check out my station, as I have all albums, the EP and live recordings playing)
Flickerstick is playing in MI soon! (I believe there is a show in Grand Rapids, actually! On Oct 22nd at "The Intersection") The shows are usually pretty cheap and if you are into that kinda music, you will NOT be disappointed. They are the best live show, EVER, and I have seen a TON of bands. Seriously even this band outdoes their CDs. Their studio recorded music does NOT do this band justice.
Okay, Im a little over the top, so Ill shut up, heh!
jls23
October 5th, 2004, 08:51 PM
Wow, only the bands I've never heard of play here. I mean, geez, my favorite band's lead singer is from shelby, and they only play in detroit. I might check out FS. I'm guessing "The Intersection" is somewhere near the expressway, or maybe somewhere downtown, or maybe it's that place where we had "Blues on the Mall".

October 5th, 2004, 08:57 PM
hehe...Flickerstick has a decent following in Grand Rapids and in the MI area. I think they are playing 3-4 dates in MI this tour.
Let me check....
10.18 - Magic Bag - Detroit, MI
10.20 - Upfront & Company - Marquette, MI
10.22 - The Intersection - Grand Rapids, MI
So three! Us over at the Flickerstick board really like to have the boys around a few times a year and I know of a group of girls who live in MI who hound the booking agent (he posts on the board) for local shows everytime he starts to start up a tour, lol.

Except for the above stated fact, I guess it's a paradise up here. Ah well. As stated in my edit. I might check it out, even though it is still unclear wher "The Intersection" is. Ok, I gotta get some sleep.
