I am writing this in parts or (chances I get to write.) So it isn't organized into chapters or anything. Just what I have so far.
Part 1
I walk among the dead dismembered brick and metal bodies of the lives of the past. Technology left unknown today.
Runes of another day. Their stories buried with the people that created them. Signs of man's passing never to be undone. I hear a women scream behind me. One more person to help. One more person to save. When will I find the true disillusionment of it all. I run to her, run to her as quickly as possible. I get closer and closer, knowing that another life saved now, will be another life saved then. I turn the corner to find a creature so foul it would be an eyesore among anyone who has never seen something so foul. Just another demon to kill, for me. It seemed too entertained with its pray to notice me. So I grabbed sword, and in a swift steady move that only took about two seconds the demon lay motionless dead on the ground. "Such easy pray for me." I thought to myself. But that didn't make it easy to kill. They would know I was in the city now. The rest of the demons would be coming. I knew I couldn't hold them forever, but a few hours might be enough. After that, they would take me. They would put me into the pens, the pens they put the rest of the humans in. Like we are nothing more but animals to be herded. And tell you the truth, if this plan doesn't work, thats better than I can think for me.
Part 2
I started running, running for the life of me. I had to get a good advantage point, a high place, like a hill of a sort. I passed by old shops, broken buildings, not looking back to see what was following me. I could hear scrapes against the pavement. Ever growing louder. I broke into a steady sprint, the opening of the alleyway just in front of me. I knew that if I could get to Cemetery Hill, I would have a greater vantage point. I was coming up to the the last building, one in which had been vacant a lot longer than the rest, the bricks were unsteady and the building wavered a bit in the wind. I needed something to slow these demons down, or I didn't have a chance in hell of living. I took out my hand out of my cloak and conjured up a little force to knock a few bricks out, hoping that the building would collapse with less support. I listened over my panting breath for a clue the building had given way. I turned my head around, seeing if I could get a better look. There was a short haired demon resembling a wolf after me, the others further behind. It was only then I saw it. A demon careless in his hunt for blood slid into the wall. The wooden supports inside the building began to crack, sounding like gunshots in the distance. A large roar was audible from behind me. "That will give me a few extra moments." I thought to myself. The path to Cemetery Hill lay about ten feet in front of me, I sprinted up it even harder then before. Fully knowing that if I gave anything less now, I would loose much more than my life.
Part 3
I got to the top of Cemetery Hill, and turned around immediately. From the ruins of the old city, dark disfigured creatures ran at me in a blood lusting frenzy. All towards the hill I stood upon. A second of doubt gave a lurch to my stomach. What if I can't hold them off long enough?" I pushed the thought to the back of my head. I couldn't fail. A horrible unwelcome shriek intruded into my ears. I cringed my neck into my chest in pain. "I only have a few minutes left. To live." I added at the end of my thought. A minute passed by. My thoughts drifted away, preparing me for what was yet to come. Then a familiar voice interrupted my thoughts. A familiar, but not recognizable voice. A man lay belly down a few feet away, I had not noticed him I was in such a haste. "Come here please." He asked me, as he made a coughing sound making the blood coming from this mouth even more evident. I drew closer, knowing I only had a few moments left until the demons were upon me. The man then said, "Please," coughing again, "do what you know you need to do? Don't let your feelings for her get in the way." The man then lifted his face and I saw someone I knew all to well. He inhaled one last time and then slumped his head to his chest, and his heart gave way. Tears ran down my face, the demons' cries were shrieking from less than ten feet away. "Why did it have to be me!" I thought to myself as the demons were upon me.
Part 4
I was left shaking, and out of breath. My eyes began to focus and I started to see where I was. Started to remember what happened. These horrible dreams were getting worse and worse. I was actually beginning to not be able to tell what was real and what was fake. The doctor's medication didn't help either. He told me these dreams could be related to something terrible that happened in my childhood, or the dream was meant to be a sign, or even something to draw attention to myself. Or maybe even my brain wasn't working quite right, you know how comforting doctors can get. God, were these dreams disturbing. It felt as though I was living two lives to say the least. One by day, the other by night. That might sound crazy, but these dreams were so lifelike, the pain, the hate. All of it. People probably think I am crazy, but then again I could imagine me going crazy. It would be just what they want me to do though, go crazy so they could get it all!
I looked over at my alarm clock. 6:50 A.M. "Damn!" I said out loud. I was running late for work. Traffic would be all backed up and I would have to take the tram again. Another day starting bad already, I only wish I had known the worst was yet to come.
Part 5
Today was one of those days where the sky is a dark gray and no sun is visible at all. One of those depressing days where you can pretty much expect it to rain. A day all too common for fall. As our tram cart went down the tracks I scanned its cargo for familiar faces with no intention of finding any. When you move around as much as I do, it gets hard keeping friends. I have always felt out of this place in this world. So I have been moving to find where I belong, but to no avail. The tram slowed to a halt at our destination, the Downtown 14th street station. I took my suitcase and hurried out of the tram's side doors. Knowing that if I wanted to keep my job, I better move with haste. I left the train station, moving among the people buzzing about, like bees to a nest. I took a quick left down 11th. My building (the western complex) illuminating the glows of the cars in the street ahead. Every time I saw that building I gazed in amazement. A building 200 stories high, and probably the most unique skyscraper in the world. It started out like a rectangle as most buildings do, but upwards towards the sky the middle came to a point. Then the four corners came up into points themselves, but just falling short of the larger middle point. I reached the base of this giant among men, and entered. Wishing hopefully my job was still intact.
More is yet to come!!!!!
