I saw a thread a lot further down about this, but I thought I'd make a new thread so it's readily available.
My name is TO, I've remixed a few doom tracks before and had one (Iron Demon from Final Doom) posted up at OCReMix before.
Most of you have noticed that the music from Doom 1 and 2 sound recognisably familiar as songs by Pantera, Slayer and other bands. I've been travelling around the internet and I'm gradually making a list of the songs that sound familiar to the doom songs, and were made prior to the release of doom. Any song can go on this list as long as it sounds like it could have been an inspiration for a doom song. Some of these songs, only 4 bars, or the intro or the bassline may sound similar to doom songs (such as Behind the Crooked Cross, which is similar to two songs.) But others sound exactly like the doom song (such as Mouth for War.)
If you have any other songs that you think sound similar to doom songs, post them up, I'll check them out and add them to the list.
Here's the list so far (In no particular order):
E1M1 - At Doom's Gate - The Hangar:
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Metallica - No Remorse
Slayer - Behind the Crooked Cross (Middle)
Map25 - Adrian's Sleep
Alice in Chains - Angry Chair
Map23 - Bye Bye American Pie (Barrels O' Fun)
Alice in Chains - Them Bones
E3M1 - Untitled - Hell's Keep
Pantera - Mouth for War
E2M3 - Intermission from Doom - Refinery - Intermission
Pantera - Regular People
E1M4 - Kitchen Ace (And Taking Names) - Command Control
Pantera - Rise
Map18 - Waiting for Romero to Play
Pantera - This Love
E3M3 - Deep Into the Code - Pandemonium
Slayer - Behind the Crooked Cross (Beginning)
Map10 - The Demon's Dead
Slayer - Mandatory Suicide
Map07 - Shawn's got the shotgun - Dead Simple
Slayer - South of Heaven
E2M1 - I Sawed the Demons - Deimos Anomaly
ACDC - Big Guns
