hello everybody.

I lost the number of how many games I have and, honestly, Doom, Intellivision was part of my past (I'm 62 years old, still gaming DOOM3 and many, many others).
A month ago a friend of mine gave a CD named DOOMREMAKE and I started playing the various DOOMS's they have there and today I have all of them, making a good search through the Internet.
The funny thing is that I never found I list of exactly I need to start from scratch the DOOMSDAY. There is a essential list on this site but it doesn't explain everything
I downloaded the essential files AND IT DOESN'T WORK
Put the BSP and then I discovered that there are some 3D models, and then some
jxxxx, and then, and then. I know that if have a lot of time I could do it but isn't there something that tells you ?:
'OK, stupid, here are all we get and all you need. This is for this and that is for that"
So, if someday a new version of any software appears appears I would know exactly what to do, like I did with de version 1.82

While I am waiting for this list, I am playinf the HEXEN - Citadel , which CD I discovered
that I bought many years ago and the image was terrible. Now its very, very, very good

Thanks
Prandini

Wow! Welcome. I bet you can teach these young pups a thing or two. ;)

First off DOOMREMAKE is very bad news here. Basically stolen material.
*meanie* *burn* *mad* *angry*
I think I said it all for the others. NO more mention of it.

I'm assumming you have/own the original Doom games, right? No warez here!
They will need to be patched if what you have is not the latest. version 1.9 on the Doom stuff.

patch for doom (http://www.3dgamers.com/games/doom/)
patch for doom2 (http://www.3dgamers.com/games/doom2/)
patch for heretic (http://www.3dgamers.com/games/heretic/)
patches for hexen and hexen deathkings (http://www.3dgamers.com/games/hexen/)
Remember the DOS days and patching? WinXP has a command prompt which does the same as DOS.

Install Doomsday 1.8.2

copy/paste the patched wads in the appropriate Doomsday\Data\ folders. You won't need the .exes.
doom.wad, doom2.wad, tnt.wad, and plut.wad go in the Data\jdoom folder for example.
heretic.wad in the data\jheretic folder. I think you get the jist.

Doomsday should be able to run on any of those as is.
Start kickstart. under "MISC" tab untick "Check if glbsp needs to be run"
Then "Play" whatever you want. It should startup just fine. if not Post in the Technical Support forum for more help. We'll take you through and get you playing.
Doomsday\Doc\Beginners.txt has more info though some of it is a bit outdated now concerning glbsp. You can skip over that part.

That should get you started.

Hello everybody,

Well , I didn't about that. I thought it was only a change of name of a directory. Anyway, this is one more reazon that leads me to create the DOOMSDAY.
Yes, I have the originals DOOM I , DOOM II , HEXEN , HEXEN II , DARK CITY.
I still don't have PLUTONIA , TNT and ULTIMATE (original) but i will find them.
Here in Brazil it takes some time to get them.

Now, the problem is WHICH SOFTWARE I NEED to make the DOOMSDAY works, because sometimes is difficult if you don't have a guide. For example, reading the beginnner's guide you think that all you need is

deng-inst.exe 1.82
3D models (which is the latest version ?)
Windows
Direct X
Display adapter ( I have a Radeon 9.600)
WADS
When you start running you are asked for glBSP

Is that all ?

Thanks for your help and forgive me to mention the other name

Start kickstart. under "MISC" tab untick/uncheck "Check if glbsp needs to be run". That stops the asking for glbsp.

Don't worry about the 3D models right now. Though to answer your question it would be this one
ftp://jfiles@server1.thefourwinds.net/jdoom/models/jdrp/jDoom_Resource_Pack_101.exe
for doom.

Is it playing now? If not would you please post the contents of your doomsday.out file. Notepad can open and read it.

To a moderator: I guess this needs to be moved to Tech Support.

To others: I have to go now until tomorrow so would someone step up to the plate and help this gentleman?

If you need extras, the stickies are useful. Upgrading alot of the stuff. Keep an eye open for JDRP1.1 and future releases aswell, it looks great. I hope you had a happy birthday too and enjoy Doomsday. :)

Hello everybody,

It's funny or not funny, saturday when I was going to install Doomsday, I discovered that my nephew, not a child anymore (age 15), erased all the files on my computer, near 60 jigabytes,
I starting from scratch now. That was my birthday gift,
'God bless all the nephews in the world'

Okay, well kill him now before the genetics spread. He is in his teens now so... ;)

Of course, I'm joking. But seriously, that really sucks. I hope you have broadband. I know how much of a pain in the ass is it to start from scratch and have to download HUGE files on dial-up. *bawl*

Dear Juan.
I've been working in Data Processing since 1969 (with Cobol which I guess, you do not know, today I use Delphi 8. Everything I have are on CD's,because if you do not have a backup, you have nothing. Even a game like Doom, for exemple, I have more than 3000 wads, Unreal 2004 = 2000 phases, so the problem will be only the time I will lost, but I just started yesterday and hopefully I will finish next friday

Thanks
