i've got a wierd problem with my USB 2 ports. i'll use my camera as an example. when i connect it, windows makes its beep sound, confirming that the device has been connected. but when i start up the camera software to download the pictures, it will not detect the camera. the camera also does not show up in my computer, nor does my usb Zip drive. also my usb microphone is unresponsive. i've checked in Bios to make sure all my usb ports are active, and that my OS is plug and play aware. so i'm quite perplexed. anybody had a problem like this before? anything else i could try to get my stuff to work?

Could be a problem with the Camera's drivers, or if it's affecting mulitple devices, the usb drivers are going haywire...

If you're under XP, try unistalling all of the camera drivers, then unplug your camera and reboot. Once windows has already booted, plug your camera again but make sure it's off, then it should be detected, now, insert the cd where drivers are stored (cancel any installation request if offered) follow the driver installation process guided by windows. It should look for the best drivers, if it doesn't, tell it to look for'em into the driver cd and install the proper ones for your windows version. Reboot again but be aware that nothing should happen, so turn on the camera and you would be getting a lil sreen asking you to view or download the picutres to your drive. That's all.

Try not to use those creepy apps bundled with the camera, they are often messy, XP can take care of it.
