Hi, I finally got my music pack on the server. I just had to lower the sample rate a little! You can download it here: http://dl.downloadhosting.com/download/dalton_man321/Doom%20Music.zip
Enjoy! :)
Tell me what you think!
Note: I didn't have time to check the volume levels, so that means that it might get loud, then soft, then loud again. But if someone is willing to master it, feel free to do it! Just don't say that you actully made the songs. Just say you remastered it. :) That is all.

Downloading, now let's see if it's as good as Sycrafts music packs *winky*

Hmmmm... Not bad, it sounds very much the same as the original, but I prefer Sycrafts sets.
But for the people who don't like Sycrafts stuff, who more like it the classic way but have bad midi support, then this is really good.

Thanks for being honest. :) I'm thinking about doing electronic remixes of the doom music. I'm going to try it right now! :D

If you want someone to master it, you should provide them uncompressed copies. Music suffers a great deal from being compressed, convoluted, and recompressed. OGG is psychoacoustic compression meaning it makes assumptions based on human hearing. If there is later processing, these assumptions can be invalid and more severe falws can be revealed. Also double compression is always degrading to sound quality.

Also a question: Why did you elect to use a 24000Hz sample rate? That is low enough that is has quite an audible impact, even for people with degraded hearing. A 32kHz sample rate can be sufficient, though 44.1 is really what you should go for. OGG can be given a 44.1 sample rate and still targeted at < 128k nominal and sound quite good. 44.1kHz OGG even sounds acceptable at < 64kHz. Better to give OGG all the information and let it decide what frequences are and are not relivant.

The reason why I didn't do the music at 44.1 sample rate is because it exeded the limit of my download server, which was 50mb. Also, I can't send anyone who wanted to master it the uncompressed wav files because they go over 40mb. Sorry. :(

No you don't seem to understand, the sample rate doesn't control the size. You tell OGG what nominal bitrate to encode at, and it'll do it. If the result comes out too bit, lower the bitrate not the sample rate. OGG makes the decisions as to what data to include and what not at any given bitrate.

Oh, OK. I'll try it when I get home and the internet working. Thank you. :)

You could put in some form of lossless compression or good ol' zip/rar.

This sounds very good, but the E1M2 is a little fast and unclear
