Dose anyone know why i cannot run XWE as a user or power user on XP pro and must use an admin account to run it.

when runing as a user i get a message saying could not create .grp and then a list out of bounds error.

what is xwe trying to do when it starts and what is the .grp it refers to, the help file is a complete waste of disk space.

It sounds like you dont have access to write in the directory that XWE is in. A .grp is either a Microsoft file (what it does i forget) or Build engine file, kinda like a WAD but for Duke3d/ShadowWarrior/Blood.

.GRP files are what Windows 3.x (and the progman.exe in Windows 95 and later) use to store those icon windows menu's you'd get.

Thanks Guys,

I have write in the XWE dir, and it's not created a .grp when working as root, so i think it's trying to write to the wrong dir. i'll check it out. thanks for trying though...
