Here are my system specs

P4 1.8ghz, Intel extreme graphics 64mb, and 640mb of ram. Would I be able to play Doom 3 I know that it would not look to great but would it be playable?

I don't have an AGP slot and I was thinking about geting a PCI Graphics Card. Are there any that would play Doom 3 or am I wasting my time and money?

An FX5200 should be enough to play in low detail.

Why low detail? What's your cap?

Make sure you get the FX 5200 PCI card, thats what I used when my shitty e-machines didnt have an AGP. It doesnt run doom 3 or Halo very fast though and it lags sometimes, but other then that its pretty alright. Great price.

well my friend tried running doom 3 on a his mom's comp a 2.4 p4 w/ HT, 512mb ddr, and 64 mb intel onboard graphics...he said he got it to run but the visuals were lacking, shading and shadow features were non exsistant...he said if he played it any longer he would of took it back to get his money refunded because it looked so bad...then he thought of trying it on his comp so he fired up his old athlon T-bird 1.3 with 768mb ddr, and a BFG geforce 5200 256mb..and he said it lags alittle bit but its much much better than his moms comp with onboard graphics

An FX5200 should be enough to play in low detail.

I should hope so... I run a 5200 FX and I can run it in High detail at 12-14 FPS Med at 25-34 FPS.
