This is my second 'Do you know...?" thread, but please be forgiving. :)
What skinning program do all of you seasoned modellers use for the md2 format?

Whatever you like drawing with, basically. You could make a skin with charcoal or chalk if you wanted to.

Well, it wouldnt be very conventional, but theres nothing stopping you. Lets say that you are a master with a brush and oil paints, but have no idea how to use a photoshop. Why not sketch a rough layout of the texture coordinates on a canvas and paint on that? As long as you can get it back into the computer, it wouldnt be any different to if you had painted the whole thing on a computer. Its just a drawing at the end of the day, use whatever method suits you best.
Although, personally I'll stick with Photoshop, heh.

I use Photoshop 7.0, and that's what I'm sticking with. I'm using Doomsday as an excuse to get into modelling I guess. :) So I'm pretty green when it comes to skinning.
I thought there was a special program you'd have to use, or something besides the model program and an image app.

I mean $650 for 1 piece of software is well out of my budget. Thats more expensive then office and that comes with twice as many useless features. But it comes with free book at least.

On the subject of skins, this question is poised at those that use NPherno's skinning utility;
What exactly makes a skin, when loaded, contract the "incorrect dimensions" error? I usually make the skins in 256 by 256 using (gasp) 256 colors.
Any advice?
