I picked up Doom Builder a couple of days ago and I got Dr Sleeps guide with it. I followed his map to the T and I couldn't get any type of teleporter to work or the walk over switch on a door. Any help?

Teleporters are a bit complicated. Remember that you need a "teleporter destination" thing inside the sector that you want the toon to teleport to. When you assign a "walkover" linedef, make sure the sector tag is set to something. The sector you are teleporting to must match that sector tag. Doom uses the sector tags to know what switches affect what sectors.

The last two steps would probably resolve the walkover switch for doors too.

Thank you very much. That was exactly what I needed. And the walkover switch was that I didn't allow enough space for my switch to register.

EDIT: I made a fully functional map with teleporters and stairs. woo hoo.

Doom level building is a lot of trial and error at first. When I first started doing it, I couldn't build a single map in DEU (one of the first third-party level editors for Doom). I finally realized that maps had to be run through a BSP builder, otherwise Doom would not be able to read them. :p Thank god the newer editors do this automatically. I eventually taught myself how to make lifts and doors (I think the teleporters thing was an accident).

The Doom Builder Guide at http://www.codeimp.com/ is very extensive. If you have any further questions (and we both know you will ;) ) that should cover most of it. If not, I know how to get just about anything done on a map, provided it's not concerning scripting or coding.
