Better get more RAM, but the rest looks fine. 384 is Min for Doom 3. you need atleast 512 ... 1 gig is best.

Welcome :) You will need to go through the tweak guide and do the Unpacking of the pk4 files and set the Image Cache in the DoomConfig file also update to the latest NVIDA drivers. There are others with 256 meg ram and are playing, but, have very low FPS. You really should up your RAM. Even though adjusting the Imagecache helps, it is better to have the RAM it is faster than a HDD Cache.

I only just upgraded the machine to this spec for X2-The Threat which plays well now. It will be a while before i can upgrade again! I have looked at the tweaking steps and if they are required I will definatly use them. Im only looking to play it at about 1024x768 at a reasonable graphics quality so if i can manage that I will be happy!

I'm running:
AMD 64 bit 3200+
512 meg RAM
5200FX 256 VRAM
Image Cache set for 3.5 gig (Requires adjusting the systems page file)
At 800X600 I get on adverage 20-30 FPS Med settings
At 1024X768 I get 6-10 Med settings
Good luck :)

Well it arrived! Had to turn off the shadows and bumpmaps then plays smooth as silk on high and quite playable on ultra high. I changed the pagefile to 3gig as you sugested which helped a lot and I will unpack the files tonight! Only got half an hour to play this morning but this game rocks! Thanks for your advise Looney!

oh nonono turn the bumps back on. i dont even miss the shadows, i turned mine off too. but dont go and turn off the key feature in this game. the bumpmapping is what makes the graphics in this game so spectacular! buy more RAM and youll be fine with bumps on. im begging you, TURN THEM BACK ON! ;)

Your Welcome, Exalent, glad you got it working :D DoomMooD is right though, Even if you have to drop to Med 800x600 Bumpmaping is a thing you really want on if you can.

Im going to have a big play with the settings tonight. Im thinking that with the unpacking and all the other tweaks ive seen I may be able to have the bumpmaps back on! Cant afford more memory at the moment but soon I hope. 800 is ok with the bumpmaps at the moment unfortunatly i had to come to work so further testing was posponed!!

and here I was, all prepaired for the game. It comes out and my card dies. Whats worse is I can't play any games to vent out my frustration this week (bad week.) so im left with only one alternative... music and listen to people talk about how great the game is. I really miss my graphics card... *bawl*
